The Saatva Latex Hybrid mattress is everything you’d expect from Saatva. The bed contains premium materials and aims to provide robust support, which is important for those struggling with spinal alignment. This bed’s sturdy support system could be especially great for stomach sleepers, and as a stomach sleeper, I know the struggle of trying to find something supportive enough for this position!
I tested the Saatva Latex Hybrid for myself, and in this review, I’ll break down the pros and cons. I’ll discuss what I found, including important considerations to know so you can purchase with confidence.

Who I Recommend the Saatva Latex Hybrid For
- Warm sleepers – Memory foam is famous for causing heat retention, a material this bed employs none of. This bed combines multiple cooling materials to keep you comfortable, so you’ll find 100 percent organic New Zealand wool, Talalay latex, and zoned pocketed coils, all promoting breathability and cooling.
- Stomach sleepers – I noticed no sinking and no back pain while on my stomach. The Saatva brand uses robust lifting strategies in their design, which helps provide excellent support for stomach sleepers.
- Heavier folks – The Saatva Latex Hybrid provides an excellent lumbar lift that should help larger sleepers. I found this bed has a substantial feel but remains comfortable in various positions, so you should experience a nice balance of pressure relief and support.
Who I Don’t Recommend the Saatva Latex Hybrid For
- Lightweight side sleepers – Lightweight people under 130 pounds may experience this Saatva as even firmer because they might not weigh enough to activate the bed’s contouring layers, which could result in pressure buildup. Find mattresses for petite sleepers here.
- Restless sleepers – There’s a lot to love about this bed’s robust lifting capabilities. The mattress is designed to help reduce back pain and hopefully improve your rest. However, it has steel coils and latex, so it’s not as forgiving as memory foam when it comes to motion transfer. I think this can be a concern for couples in which one person is a restless sleeper. Find the best memory foam mattresses here.
Customer Reviews of the Saatva Latex Hybrid
On Saatva’s website, their Latex Hybrid scores 4.8 out of 5 stars based on over 240 reviews. Customers appreciate the Saatva Latex Hybrid mattress for its eco-friendly and durable materials but have reported that it is relatively expensive compared to some other latex mattresses.
Testing the Saatva Latex Hybrid
Sleep Advisor’s Testing Methodology
I used our in-depth product review process to test the Saatva Latex Hybrid. These tests involved a combination of hands-on experiences and data tools to get a comprehensive evaluation of this bed’s performance features.
I also had other colleagues test it so we could compare notes and see whether it works for different body types. This is important because different people can have varying experiences on the same mattress based on their body type and sleep style. The other testers from our Sleep Advisor team included Spencer, Loren, and Sosha.
Firmness & Feel
Firmness Scale: 7/10
The Saatva Latex Hybrid is a firm mattress that I rated 7 out of 10 on our mattress firmness scale, so it’s a bit on the firmer side and could feel even firmer to those who weigh under 150 pounds. The bed features a Euro top that contours your curves, but I think the real firmness comes from the 3-inch latex layer underneath the comfort layer.
How Does the Saatva Latex Hybrid Feel?
What I really enjoyed (and what I think other sleepers will too) is how this mattress was built to shape around your body.
Additionally, the bed provides tremendous cooling efforts if you sleep warm due to its innerspring coils, which foster air circulation, latex, a breathable cover, and the New Zealand wool layer wicking away moisture.
Sleeping Positions for Different Body Types
The Saatva Latex Hybrid mattress can support up to 300 pounds per sleeper, which is 600 pounds total for those who share a bed.
Side Sleepers
Body Type | Weight Range | Tester Feedback |
Lightweight Sleepers | Less than 130 pounds | Loren was our lightweight tester. She felt that this mattress isn’t the best pick for lightweight side sleepers because of its noticeably firmer feel, especially when it comes to feeling tension on pressure points. |
Average-Weight Sleepers | 130-230 pounds | From my experience as an average-weight tester, it felt a bit firm on the hip and shoulder that pressed into the bed. While this wasn’t an issue for me personally, it could be too strong for those with hip and/or shoulder pain. Sosha, a part-time side sleeper, thought this bed would be fine for a weekend away, but she felt too much pressure to use it as her full-time bed. |
Heavyweight Sleepers | More than 230 pounds | Spencer was our heavyweight tester. The mattress was a bit firm under his pressure points, but his lower back felt aligned. |
Discover the best beds for side sleepers.
Back Sleepers
Body Type | Weight Range | Tester Feedback |
Lightweight Sleepers | Less than 130 pounds | Loren shared that the slightly spongy feel of the latex in this bed really molded around her body, keeping her midsection lifted and her spine protected. |
Average-Weight Sleepers | 130-230 pounds | The even weight distribution and conformity of the latex was a very pleasant combination for this sleep position. Sosha said, “I really dug this bed when I tested it on my back. The latex felt great around my lower back, and it kept my spine comfortable and aligned. I’m not a back sleeper, but could become one on this bed.” |
Heavyweight Sleepers | More than 230 pounds | Spencer experienced a healthy amount of sinking that wasn’t too much. For him, back sleeping produced a nice medium-firm feel, and his spine felt supported. |

Stomach Sleepers
Body Type | Weight Range | Tester Feedback |
Lightweight Sleepers | Less than 130 pounds | The bed will for sure keep the midsection lifted but may feel too much around the hip(s) that make contact with the bed, depending on how lightweight the person is. But as is, it’s a decent firm mattress option for lighter-weight stomach sleepers. |
Average-Weight Sleepers | 130-230 pounds | The zoned support, coupled with latex, really worked to protect my spine. I loved how comfortable I felt in this sleep position. After testing the Saatva Latex Hybrid, Sosha added that she loved how this bed felt when she was on her stomach. “The latex is soothing and relaxing while my hips are elevated. A+ from me!” |
Heavyweight Sleepers | More than 230 pounds | Spencer noted that his midsection remained lifted. He added that it has some nice cushioning for the rest of the body, which is helpful considering you’re lying face down. |

Pressure Relief
3/5
Pressure relief is important for many people because this can help ease discomfort in the joints when you lie down. We test this by placing a pressure map on top of the mattress and then lying on top of that. If a reading has mostly blue and green, that means there’s good pressure relief, whereas lots of yellow or red means pressure buildup.
As you can see from this pressure map reading, there’s some yellow around the hip and shoulder for side sleeping, but it’s blue as far as the eye can see for back sleeping. This makes sense, considering we felt more pressure while testing for side sleeping.
Based on our pressure map reading and the bed’s firmer feel, particularly for side sleeping, we gave it a 3 out of 5 for pressure relief.
Is the Saatva Latex Hybrid Good For Pain Relief?
The Saatva Latex Hybrid thoughtfully considers common pains with the zoned pocketed coils and five-zone latex layer. While its firmer feel could be good for some types of pain, it might worsen it for others.
Back Pain | I think people with back pain should benefit from Saatva’s five-zone natural latex layer that enhances lumbar support for those in need of relief. Read more about mattresses for back pain here. |
Hip Pain | If you’re a side sleeper with hip pain, I’d recommend something softer since we felt pressure in the hip while in this position. Read more about mattresses for hip pain here. |
Shoulder Pain | Similar to hip pain, those with pain in the shoulder should avoid sleeping on their side on this mattress. However, back sleeping should be okay. Explore more mattresses for shoulder pain here. |
Support & Spinal Alignment
5/5
When we evaluate support, we see how well it fosters healthy spine alignment. If there’s a lot of sagging, that means it’s not great for support. Beds without solid support and spinal alignment can leave us waking up with aches and pains and possibly lead to more serious ailments down the road. So, a bed that keeps your hips elevated and your spine straight can help you feel refreshed and alleviate some back issues.
The Saatva Latex Hybrid delivers support via an innerspring unit made up of pocketed coils. Then, you have the zoned latex, which provides firmer support for your heavier areas and softer support for your lighter areas. This bed excelled at supporting testers of all body types, which is why it earned a perfect 5 out of 5 in this category.

Motion Isolation
4/5
Couples, particularly those with a restless partner, will appreciate good motion isolation as it keeps the movement caused by tossing and turning isolated to one side of the bed.
I think the Saatva Latex Hybrid does well when it comes to motion isolation. The bed isn’t shaking by any means, but you may feel slight vibrations atop it, which is normal for any bed. Latex is bouncier than memory foam, so you can still feel some of the movement, but I was pleasantly surprised with how well this bed performed in this category.
Sosha also helped me test this feature using a seismograph app, and it showed little movement during normal tossing and turning. The only spike happened when she planted her elbow deep into the mattress. Based on my on-mattress testing and Sosha’s seismograph app reading, motion isolation will not be a problem unless you have an extremely restless partner. I deducted one point because the bouncy nature of latex causes some movements.
Temperature Regulation / Cooling
5/5
Even with all the naturally breathable materials and moisture-wicking, I think the real stars of the show are the latex and coils. The coils and aerated latex encourage airflow, thus preventing the construction from overheating. This allows your body heat to flow away. This was shown when we used a temperature gun to take a series of temperature readings.
We took an initial surface temperature before lying on the bed for five minutes. At the end of that five minutes, we took another reading and then returned to the bed for five more minutes before taking the final temperature.
The Saatva Latex started at 75.5 degrees. After five minutes, it was 83.0 degrees, and the final reading showed the temperature coming down to 80.5 degrees. Since there was only a five-degree difference between the first and the third temperatures, this bed got an exemplary 5 out of 5.

Bounce
5/5
Combination sleepers and sexually active folks often benefit the most from a bed with good bounce because it prevents them from feeling stuck down in the mattress when they try to reposition.
Latex and coils are very springy, so together, they usually bounce back quickly. Talalay latex has a softer feel than Dunlop, but the bounce is still there, so you’re not missing out on any of that. On top of that, this is a hybrid, so it has coils that enhance the bounce even more.
To put this to the test, we dropped a 10-pound ball from an extended arm level, and it bounced back quickly and easily. Also, when I was on this bed, I noticed the spring back was almost immediate, and it was easy to roll around. These details earned it a perfect 5 out of 5 for bounce.
Edge Support
5/5
Strong edge support is often ideal for co-sleepers who want to spread out or people who often sit on the side of the bed.
Sosha evaluated the Saatva Latex Hybrid’s edge support by sitting on the edge for a minute, and lying along the perimeter for another minute. She noticed a slight dip when she sat on it but said she still felt very secure while she was bent over tying her shoes. She wasn’t worried about rolling off while lying on the side of the bed.
I deducted half a point for the dip while Sosha was sitting, as this could make it slightly more difficult for those with mobility issues, but we both feel confident that this bed will provide ample edge support.
Accessibility
5/5
To assign a score for accessibility, we evaluate how the brand and the individual mattress go above and beyond for their customers. Saatva includes complimentary white glove delivery and removal with all mattress purchases. Not having to muscle your new mattress into place and not having to pay for this service is a big plus.
If you do need to move it after delivery day, Saatva has included handles that make this easier. However, this mattress is fairly heavy, so if you want to put it in a different room, you will likely need someone to help you. Another pro for me is the 365-night sleep trial, which gives you plenty of time to make sure you’re satisfied with this mattress, but if you decide to return it, you will have to pay a fee.
I deducted half a point for the Saatva Latex Hybrid because of its weight and return fee.
Customer Service
5/5
Saatva brings their A-game when it comes to customer service. It was incredibly easy to communicate with reps by online chat, email, or phone — each option had an almost instant response. This company also has some of the best policies in the field. They offer a full-year sleep trial and lifetime warranty, two policies that indicate faith in their products. The Saatva Latex Hybrid easily earned the top score for customer service.
Performance for Couples
4.5/5
Cuddling up next to the one you love can provide a sense of calm and peace—if you’re in a bed that keeps both partners happy. Our couples score is based on how the bed performs in other testing categories that we think couples can benefit from, including motion isolation, bounce, edge support, cooling, and overall support. We also consider the general feel of the bed and whether it could work for two people.
The Saatva Latex Hybrid should be a standout for couples. Its great bounce can prevent you from getting awkwardly stuck during sex, and the top-notch motion isolation can allow you to drift off to sleep without being disturbed by your partner’s tossing and turning. Also, couples who like to use the entire surface of the bed can do that without fear of rolling off the edge. Lastly, the bed’s stellar cooling should prevent frustratingly warm nights while the strong support should keep both partners comfortable.
I deducted a half point because I think couples will still be able to feel a slight bit of motion, which could be an issue for very light sleepers.

How Durable is the Saatva Latex Hybrid?
Latex mattresses are known for their durability, and the Saatva Latex Hybrid is at the top of the class. This bed is made with natural latex, widely considered the industry’s most durable foam material.
While testing this mattress, we looked at the stitching, and based on the quality, we agreed that we didn’t foresee it unraveling even after years of use. The testing team was particularly impressed with the handles on the bed. They felt very secure when we were moving the bed around. Also, we cut into the mattress (don’t try this at home; it will void your warranty) to see the interior materials. They all appeared solidly constructed and felt well made.
Of course, how long your mattress lasts will also depend on how well you care for it, but the Saatva Latex Hybrid should last for years to come.

Construction: What’s Inside the Saatva Latex Hybrid?
All Saatva Latex hybrid mattresses are 12 inches high and have a soft, breathable organic cotton cover. Also, the bed also features Saatva’s exclusive Guardin® antimicrobial botanical treatment, making it good for people with allergies.
- Under the cover is a wool layer with remarkable cooling capabilities. Wool has unique fibers that help wick moisture away from the skin, helping individuals stay cool through warm nights. On top of that, wool is a natural fire barrier, which means it contains no fiberglass or chemical flame retardants.
- The five-zone natural latex helps provide pressure relief through zoned support. Five special regions relieve pressure points and support the lumbar area, helping you achieve restful and rejuvenating sleep. Plus, Talalay latex is 100 percent natural and hypoallergenic.
- Three zones of recycled steel coils are designed for delicate yet strong support. I found they contour and respond to your body’s movements, help in spinal alignment, and offer excellent edge reinforcement. The coils go from edge to edge, so there’s increased stability to get in and out of the bed with ease.
- The organic cotton and wool base securely anchors the mattress, preventing shifting and helping with stability. This helps provide long-term, reliable comfort.
Unboxing & Off-Gassing
Saatva doesn’t ship their mattresses in a box, so expect to receive the Latex Hybrid mattress in its full size. The company offers free white-glove delivery, so you don’t have to hassle trying to set up the mattress. This is great because the Saatva is heavy.
In addition, off-gassing shouldn’t be an issue because natural latex doesn’t typically have any odor, and the bed isn’t shipped compressed in a box.
Certifications
- Eco-Friendly Certifications – This product has a GREENGUARD Gold certification that reflects the product’s ability to meet some of the world’s most rigorous emissions standards, and its eco-INSTITUT® certification, completed by a lab in Germany with 30 years of experience in the mattress industry, signifies that the company has gone above and beyond to ensure levels of hazardous chemicals are well-below safety regulation requirements.
- Certified Natural Materials – The cotton in the cover is GOTS-certified, which means the cotton meets the international third-party standard to be certified organic. The mattress’s second layer and tufting yarn are made from GOTS-certified wool. The latex is certified by GOLS.

My Verdict of the Saatva Latex Hybrid
After testing the Saatva Latex Hybrid, I think it’s a comfortable and versatile mattress that should last many years. The hybrid construction has many benefits, but what stands out most is how supportive it is, which is enhanced by ergonomic firmness zones for better adaptability.
I think this mattress should work for most people, although some may find it softer or firmer, depending on their body weight and sleeping position. Also, Saatva added a lifetime warranty and a 365-night trial on top of white glove delivery to make the entire mattress even more appealing. This bed gets an overall score of 4.6 out of 5.
