If you dream of having a bed that allows you to read or watch TV at a comfortable angle or one that could cut down your partner’s snoring, you may want to put your mattress on an adjustable base. Luxury mattress manufacturer, Saatva, offers two such bases, and I got to test out their base model, the Saatva Adjustable Base.
For a company that has become synonymous with opulent beds, I was a little surprised at the minimalistic design of their adjustable base. Did this mean it was bare bones or just a straightforward, less-is-more design?
Dive into this review where I answer that question and more. To bring you a comprehensive overview, I will go over my first-hand experience with the Saatva Adjustable Base and break down how it performed, as well as its design and other features, which can help you decide whether to add it to your cart or keep shopping for other top-rated adjustable beds.

Who Is the Saatva Adjustable Base Best for?
Saatva is known for their high-quality mattresses, but how does their adjustable base stack up? Well, this ultimately depends on what you’re looking for. Read below for my thoughts on who might like this product and who might want to consider something else.
Pros: Who Might Like the Saatva Adjustable Base:
- People seeking a straightforward design – If you are someone who just wants a quality-built adjustable base that won’t bog you down with learning how to use it, this could be an excellent choice for you.
- Fans of minimalism – The Saatva Adjustable Base is much slimmer than other options that I’ve tested out. It is barely seen under the mattress and is made to fit within platform bases and other bed frames.
- Budget shoppers – Adjustable bases can get pricey. However, I think this Saatva product offers great value when you factor in the price, free white glove delivery, and 10-year warranty.
Cons: Who Might Not Like the Saatva Adjustable Base:
- Those looking for a variety of settings – This adjustable base is pretty basic. The five buttons on the wireless remote allow you to lay flat and move your head and feet. If you want massage, zero-gravity, or anti-snore settings, you’ll need to upgrade to the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus.
- Uncertain consumers – Although there is a 10-year warranty on the Saatva Adjustable Base, there is no trial period. Further, it cannot be returned or exchanged. If you aren’t certain that this is the adjustable base for you, I probably wouldn’t take the gamble.
- People who want a quiet bed – Saatva states that their adjustable base’s motor is “whisper quiet”, and while it didn’t make much noise, there was a good deal of electronic shifting sounds when adjusting the bed.
What is the Saatva Adjustable Bed Made of?
Materials
The Saatva Adjustable Base is made of powder-coated steel and Russian birchwood. Its slim design can fit within other bed frames. A wireless remote that controls the “whisper quiet” motor is used to adjust the bed, and there is also a flashlight built into the remote to help you find items or guide you to the restroom.
Height
With legs that can be adjusted in half-inch increments, this Saatva base has a minimum height of 13 inches, and it maxes out at 18 inches.
Sleeping on the Saatva Adjustable Base
The Saatva Adjustable Base is slimmer than many adjustable bases on the market, as it is designed to fit inside frames. However, it can still hold up to 850 pounds. When sleeping on this adjustable base, you can use the wireless remote to lay flat or raise and lower your head and feet. The motor is fairly quiet, and it shouldn’t wake a partner or pet that you’re sharing your bed with, but you may notice some shifting noise when you make adjustments.
The adjustable legs are a nice touch as you can customize the base to fit your bed frame or to assist if you have any mobility issues. Saatva Adjustable Base Sizing Options & Pricing

Support 4/5
The Saatva Adjustable Base is made with powder-coated steel and Russian birchwood that can hold up to 850 pounds, which includes the weight of your mattress and all occupants. Although the support seems adequate, I do want to mention that this is a “bare bones” product.
Durability 3/5
Although the Saatva uses powder-coated steel and Russian birchwood, which are sturdy materials, I felt that the overall construction was a little lackluster. This makes me question its durability (I found this surprising because Saatva usually has such high standards for its products).
Assembly 4/5
The Saatva Adjustable Base offers free white glove delivery. This means that the base is delivered and set up at no charge. However, if you need to move and reassemble it, it will take at least two people to carry it and set it up, though it does come together pretty easily. The Sleep Advisor team had it out of the box and fully assembled in less than 30 minutes.
Noise 2/5
This bed did make some electronic shifting noises between adjustments. It wasn’t obnoxiously loud, but I do think most people will notice it — I did. The motor is said to be “whisper quiet,” and while I didn’t notice any noise from the motor, it may have just been covered up by the noise of the adjustments. However, it doesn’t creak or groan when you’re getting in and out of bed, which is a plus for me.
Ease of Use 5/5
The Saatva Adjustable Base shines bright when it comes to ease of use. The wireless remote has five buttons that are used to move the head and feet or activate the flashlight. Having a flashlight on the remote is helpful, but if you’re looking for under-bed lighting as well, I recommend the Plus model. For those who may not consider themselves tech-savvy or just want an easy-to-use adjustable base, this may be a great fit.
Shipping 5/5
You will receive free shipping and assembly as part of Saatva’s white glove delivery program.
Sleep Trial & Warranty 3/5
The Saatva Adjustable Base has a 10-year warranty, but there is no sleep trial. Additionally, Saatva considers adjustable bases “lifestyle products,” which means that they are not eligible for returns or exchanges.
Saatva Adjustable Base Frequently Asked Questions
Are adjustable bases worth it?
The answer to this is largely dependent on your personal needs and preferences. If you or your partner snores, an adjustable base might help remedy that. Raising or lowering your head and feet can also help with certain aches and pains, as well as some mobility issues. Furthermore, people who like to read or watch TV in bed may find the settings of an adjustable bed worthwhile.
However, they can be expensive, and many bases can’t be returned. Therefore, make sure that you want one and know which one will work best for you before purchasing anything.
Can I return my Saatva Adjustable Base?
Unfortunately, you cannot return the Saatva Adjustable Base for a refund or an exchange. The manufacturer considers them a “lifestyle product” and this classification makes them ineligible for returns.
Do I have to use a Saatva mattress with the adjustable base?
No, you can use the Saatva Adjustable Base with mattresses not manufactured by the company. However, you will want to ensure that your mattress is compatible with an adjustable base. Many memory foam and latex beds partner well with adjustable bases, but always double-check. Some hybrids may work, but innerspring models, waterbeds, and air mattresses should be avoided.

If you are looking for an adjustable frame that has a variety of features, this is probably not the one for you. However, if you are looking for an easy-to-use adjustable base from a reputable manufacturer that will fit inside another frame, this Saatva offering could be a great fit.
Overall, I gave this adjustable base a 3.7 out of 5.
