How Does the Leesa Mattress Feel?
The Leesa mattress is soft to the touch, while the layers below are firmer and provide support. The Leesa is a very responsive bed. When our tester dropped a ball onto the mattress, the ball bounced quite a bit, which means it should not be difficult to move around on the Leesa mattress.

When testing a mattress for pressure relief, our mattress reviewers use a pressure map when lying on their side, stomach, and back. The map ranges from blue (no pressure) to red (high pressure). We gave the Leesa a 4.5 out of 5 when scoring pressure relief because our tester’s pressure map showed small sections of red and yellow, but the map was blue and green for the most part.
The all-foam design of the Leesa is built for comfort and pressure relief, but since the bed is medium-firm, it does not provide as much pressure relief as some softer mattresses.

Is the Leesa Mattress Good for Pain Relief?
Based on our mattress tester’s feedback, yes, we do think the Leesa mattress is good for pain relief. However, the Leesa may only be good for pain relief for certain people, depending on their sleeping position and weight.

Support is essentially how well a mattress can keep your body elevated and from sinking too deep, and it’s important for maintaining a healthy spine. The Leesa has a 6-inch dense poly foam base, which provides support and stability to the all-foam mattress.
This medium-firm bed is especially supportive for lightweight and average-weight side and back sleepers. Heavier folks, particularly those who sleep on their stomach or back, may not feel as supported by the Leesa mattress, so we deducted one point from our score.
Motion Isolation

Motion isolation occurs when your partner is moving around on one side of the bed and you can’t feel that movement on your side of the bed. Motion isolation is particularly helpful for couples, especially those who are light sleepers or have different sleep schedules.
Our tester placed a cup of water in the middle of the Leesa mattress to test its motion isolation, and the water didn’t move too much, which is a good sign! Additionally, two of our testers lay on the Leesa together to see if one could feel the other’s movement on the bed. Our tester felt the movement of his bed partner slightly but decided the Leesa is still a good choice for couples looking for a mattress with motion isolation.
Temperature Regulation / Cooling

Since the Leesa is an all-foam mattress, it can’t distribute heat as well as innerspring or hybrid beds can. However, for a foam bed, we think the Leesa does pretty well with temperature regulation. With a breathable mattress cover and top poly foam layer, this mattress should keep you cool while you sleep.
Our mattress reviewer used a heat gun to put the Leesa’s cooling qualities to the test. Before he lay on the bed, it was 71.7 degrees Fahrenheit, and the mattress’s temperature increased to 78.5 degrees once our tester lay on the bed for five minutes. This temperature increase may not bother most sleepers, but if you sleep hot or live in a particularly warm climate, you may not love the Leesa, which is why it earned a 4 here.
Bounce

Our mattress reviewer dropped a ball onto the Leesa, demonstrating that the mattress provides a good amount of bounce. Our tester noted that even though this foam bed has lots of cushioning, he found it pretty easy to move around on the Leesa. We didn’t give it a perfect score since the addition of coils would likely give it even more bounce.
Bounce is a helpful quality in a bed for people who have limited mobility, are sexually active, or change positions a lot since a buoyant, responsive mattress helps make it easier to move around.
Edge Support

We tested the Leesa’s edge support by having our mattress reviewers sit and lie on the edge of the mattress. When our tester sat on the edge of the bed, he did not feel very supported and as though he was sinking significantly. He sank about 5 inches, which is more than a typical mattress would sink.
When lying down on the edge of the Leesa, our reviewer noticed that the edges sank a little bit, but he did not feel like he was going to fall off the bed. This mediocre edge support might bother you if you sleep with a partner and like to spread out, enjoy sleeping near the edge of the bed, or have limited mobility when getting in and out of bed. With this in mind, the Leesa only received a 3.5 out of 5 in this category.

We gave the accessibility of the Leesa a score of 3 out of 5 because, for the most part, it lacks special features or design elements. While the company does offer a white glove delivery service, it comes at an additional cost of $150. Also, this service is only available in select locations, and removal of your old mattress is available only at the discretion of the driver.
Leesa’s return policy is somewhat confusing, with several limitations. Additionally, the actual mattress itself does not have any specifically accessible features. However, the Leesa does come at a somewhat accessible price, which is why we scored it the way we did.

With strong support and motion isolation, the Leesa should hold two people comfortably and allow for non-disruptive sleep. The Leesa also excels in responsiveness, which may be important for couples who are sexually active.
On the other hand, the Leesa doesn’t provide the best edge support, which can be a drawback for couples who tend to sleep apart from each other. Also, even though the Leesa is a good cooling foam mattress, hybrid or innerspring mattresses typically tend to have better temperature regulation. Often, sleeping with another person makes you feel hotter during the night, so the Leesa’s cooling abilities might not meet your standards when sleeping with a partner.

Construction: What’s Inside the Leesa?
The mattress is designed for use with various foundations, including solid platforms, solid box springs/foundations, Bunkie boards on box springs, and slatted foundations. The company also sells its own foundation on its site.
The gray cover has four white stripes on its lower third that is easily identifiable as a Leesa. This cover is thicker than other models and zips off for easy spot cleaning.

Unboxing & Off-Gassing
The Leesa mattress is shipped to your home in a box. Once your mattress arrives, you can tear open the box, cut through the plastic covering, unroll it, and watch as it inflates to its full size.
As a bed that is shipped in the box, you should expect some initial off-gassing, which our tester noticed, and this is essentially a new-mattress smell and normal for bed-in-a-box mattresses. Leave the Leesa in a well-ventilated room, and it should be odor-free after about two days.
