Nectar Mattress Comparison: How Are They Similar?
- Affordability – These Nectar mattresses are competitively priced for what you get, especially considering the company offers a Forever warranty combined with a year-long sleep trial.
- Cooling – All three of these Nectar beds have cooling qualities and excel in temperature regulation. I was thoroughly impressed with how well they each regulated temperature, especially since memory foam mattresses can sometimes trap heat.
- All-foam beds – Each of these mattresses is an all-foam bed, which means they don’t contain springs of any kind.
Nectar Mattress Comparison: How Are They Different?
- Firmness level – Each Nectar mattress has a different firmness rating. The Nectar is firm, the Nectar Premier is medium-firm, and the Nectar Luxe has a medium/medium-plush feel.
- Price – These three mattresses are priced differently. A queen Nectar costs $1,099, a queen Nectar Premier costs $1,499, and a queen Nectar Luxe costs $1,949.
- Performance for couples – All of these beds perform differently for couples. I recommend the Nectar Premier most for couples, followed by the Nectar, and then the Nectar Luxe.
Nectar Mattress Comparison: Firmness, Feel, and Construction
Firmness & Feel
We rank mattress firmness on a 1-10 scale, with a 10 being like you’re sleeping on a wooden board pretty much. In the case of these Nectar mattresses, I definitely noticed that they get progressively softer as you move from the Nectar to the Premier to the Luxe, which is likely because the memory foam gets thicker with each upgrade.
Mattress | Sleep Advisor Firmness Rating | Feel | Tester Feedback |
---|---|---|---|
Nectar | 7.5/10 | Firm | When I tested the Nectar mattress, I was surprised by how firm it felt. Memory foam mattresses are usually softer than innerspring and hybrid beds, so I didn’t expect a 7.5 out of 10. Since this bed is on the firmer side, I didn’t feel the cushion I would expect from a memory foam mattress. That said, this mattress supported me well, and I enjoyed the soft cover. |
Nectar Premier | 6.5/10 | Medium-Firm | The Nectar Premier’s cover felt cool to the touch, yet a little bit slick. This mattress is medium-firm, which, again, is a little bit firmer than other memory foam beds. When I lay on the Nectar Premier, I could feel the therapeutic foam contouring to my body. |
Nectar Luxe | 5.5/10 | Medium/Medium-Plush | With a cool-to-the-touch cover, the Nectar Luxe immediately impressed me. This medium/medium-plush mattress felt like a true memory foam mattress. The thick foam layers created a cloud-like sensation, yet the supportive foam at the base of the bed still supported my body. |
Mattress Construction
The Nectar, Nectar Premier, and Nectar Luxe are similar in that they’re memory foam beds with moisture-wicking covers and shift-resistant lower covers. These beds each include 3 inches of responsive supportive foam and 8 inches of conventional foam.
The primary difference among these Nectar beds is the thickness of their memory foam layers. The Nectar has a 1-inch layer, the Nectar Premier has a 2-inch layer, and the Nectar Luxe has a 3-inch layer. The beds’ overall heights differ too; the Nectar is 12 inches tall, the Nectar Premier is 13, and the Nectar Luxe is 14.

Nectar Mattress Comparison: Testing Performance
Pressure Relief
- Nectar Pressure Relief Score: 4/5
- Nectar Premier Pressure Relief Score: 5/5
- Nectar Luxe Pressure Relief Score: 4/5
I tested how well these mattresses relieved pressure by lying on the bed and using a pressure map for side and back sleeping. A mattress with great pressure relief has a mostly blue and green map, while a bed that doesn’t relieve pressure well shows lots of yellow and red on the map.
The Nectar Premier outperforms the other two mattresses at this, scoring a 5 out of 5. My pressure map showed mostly blue and some green areas, which means the bed was doing its job very well. Not only that, but this mattress hugged my body, and my joints melted into the foam in every sleeping position.
The Nectar relieved a lot of pressure when I lay on it, which surprised me given how firm it is. My pressure map for this bed was mostly blue and green with hints of yellow, which is why it didn’t earn a 5 out of 5. Similarly, the Nectar Luxe hugged most of my pressure points in each sleeping position, but I did still feel some pressure buildup around my shoulder when on my side, which is why I scored this bed a 4 out of 5.
Support
- Nectar Support Score: 5/5
- Nectar Premier Support Score: 5/5
- Nectar Luxe Support Score: 4/5
When your body sinks too deep into a mattress, that usually indicates a lack of support. I gave the Nectar and Nectar Premier perfect scores for their support. Their base layers kept my body upheld and aligned while I moved to and from different sleeping positions.
The Nectar Luxe scored slightly lower, getting a 4 out of 5, which is likely due to its softer feel compared to the other two Nectar mattresses. I felt supported enough by the Nectar Luxe on my back and stomach, but it left something to be desired when I lay on my side; my shoulder sank too much for my liking.
Motion Isolation
- Nectar Motion Isolation Score: 5
- Nectar Premier Motion Isolation Score: 5
- Nectar Luxe Motion Isolation Score: 4
I tested motion isolation using a seismograph machine. A bed with good motion isolation can help keep you from feeling it every time your bedmate moves. If you’re like me and you sleep with a partner who’s constantly tossing and turning, you probably value motion isolation as much as I do.
I was very impressed with the Nectar and Nectar Premier’s motion isolation. Both seismograph readings detected minimal movement when my colleague, Corey, moved around. With both the Nectar and the Nectar Premier, I didn’t feel Corey’s movement at all, which is a big win for folks who sleep with restless partners.
The Nectar Luxe underperformed in motion isolation compared to the other two Nectar beds, but I still scored it a 4 out of 5, which means it still did pretty well. Even though the seismograph showed very small movement transfer when Corey and I tested it out, we noticed more ourselves, so I deducted a point. I’d attribute this to the softer surface of the bed compared to the Nectar and Nectar Premier.
Temperature Regulation / Cooling
- Nectar Cooling Score: 4
- Nectar Premier Cooling Score: 4
- Nectar Luxe Cooling Score: 4.5
Using a temperature gun, I measured the temperature of these beds before lying on them and then after spending five and 10 minutes on them. I found that the Nectar Luxe had the best temperature regulation of the three beds. The bed’s temperature rose under 10 degrees when I tested it after five minutes, but it began to decrease when I re-measured the temperature at 10 minutes. I was thoroughly impressed that this mattress stayed cool to the touch the entire time.
The Nectar and Nectar Premier both have pretty good temperature regulation as well, both scoring just a half-point lower than the Nectar Luxe. Both mattresses’ temperatures rose 8 degrees during my testing, and the classic Nectar didn’t feel cool to the touch, which is why they’re rated slightly lower.
Bounce
- Nectar Bounce Score: 3.5
- Nectar Premier Bounce Score: 3
- Nectar Luxe Bounce Score: 2.5
I tested these beds’ bounce by dropping a 10-pound medicine ball onto each of them and seeing if and how much the ball bounced. I also moved around on each mattress to assess how easy this was to do. None of these mattresses had super great bounce, but that didn’t surprise me given that they’re all memory foam beds. All-foam mattresses are usually much less responsive than hybrid or innerspring beds.
The Nectar bed had the best bounce of the three. The medicine ball didn’t bounce at all on this bed, but I could move around easily and didn’t feel stuck in the mattress, so I scored it a 3.5 out of 5.
This category is going to be important for anyone who’s a combination sleeper or has some mobility limitations. Also, sexually active couples often like bouncier beds. If you love lots of bounce, consider our list of the best innerspring mattresses instead.
Edge Support
- Nectar Edge Support Score: 5
- Nectar Premier Edge Support Score: 4
- Nectar Luxe Edge Support Score: 3.5
If you share a mattress and want to spread out, edge support is especially valuable. It’s also a great feature if you need some extra support for getting in and out of bed.
I tested these beds’ edge support by sitting and lying on their edges for a minute each. The Nectar mattress has excellent edge support. I felt no risk of rolling off the mattress when lying down or sinking into the bed when seated and tying my shoes.
With regards to the Nectar Premier, I felt very secure lying on the edge but noticed significant sinkage when sitting there. The Nectar Luxe also sunk quite a bit when I sat on its edge, and for the most part, it felt secure when I lay on it, but the medium-plush feel felt a little unstable to me.
Couples
- Nectar Couples Score: 4
- Nectar Premier Couples Score: 4.5
- Nectar Luxe Couples Score: 3.5
We measure how well a mattress will suit couples by considering a bed’s scores for overall support, motion isolation, bounce, temperature regulation, and edge support. We also consider if the firmness is versatile enough; medium-firm beds are usually a happy middle-ground for most couples.
My favorite of the three beds for couples is the Nectar Premier. Its medium firmness can appeal to a variety of sleepers, and it also has excellent motion isolation, temperature regulation, and edge support. My only issue with the Nectar Premier is its mediocre bounce, so I reduced its score to 4.5 out of 5.
The Nectar could be a good runner-up for couples though. Despite its firmer feel and lack of significant bounce, it does have good overall support, edge support, motion isolation, and cooling. The Nectar Luxe fared the best for cooling, which is helpful for that extra body heat, but this mattress may also be a little too soft to support some couples.

Accessibility
- Nectar Accessibility Score: 4.5
- Nectar Premier Accessibility Score: 4.5
- Nectar Luxe Accessibility Score: 4.5
This category focuses on ways a mattress and brand stand out in the mattress market. As a brand, Nectar offers an industry-leading lifetime warranty and a 365-night sleep trial, along with free shipping and returns.
The Nectar Premier and Luxe beds both have removable covers and handles, though the company advises against removing the cover because this will void the warranty, which is why I removed half a point. The flagship Nectar mattress comes with a removable cover but does not have handles, which is why I also didn’t give it a perfect score.
Customer Service
- Nectar Customer Service Score: 4
- Nectar Premier Customer Service Score: 4
- Nectar Luxe Customer Service Score: 4
All three of these Nectar beds earned a 4 out of 5 for customer service. Nectar representatives are available to talk via chat, e-mail, or toll-free call seven days a week. I could talk to a real person, not an online bot, which I appreciated. However, the question I asked the Nectar representative wasn’t directly answered, which is why I deducted a point from my score.

Our Final Thoughts on Nectar Mattresses
Nectar sells a great variety of mattresses, including their three memory foam beds, which have gained significant popularity. The brand’s three foam mattresses, the Nectar, Nectar Premier, and Nectar Luxe are all constructed similarly, but their slight differences contribute to how the beds feel and cater to different sleepers.
I recommend you try the classic Nectar mattress if you’re a light sleeper, a back sleeper, or you prefer a firmer foam mattress feel. You may want to try out the Nectar Premier if you sleep with a partner, have joint pain, or are of average weight. And I’d suggest the Nectar Luxe to hot sleepers, average-weight stomach sleepers, and soft mattress fans.
