Nectar may be known for their budget-friendly beds, but they’re adding some luxury to their lineup with their new Luxe models. These beds are replacing Nectar’s Premier Copper beds, but how do these new models fare? In this review, I’ll focus on the Nectar Luxe Hybrid, the version of this mattress that combines foam and coils.
Noticeably softer than other Nectar beds I’ve tested, the Luxe Hybrid is going to appeal to folks who prefer a plusher mattress. It’s also a hybrid that excels at curbing motion transfer, so if you’re a light sleeper, this is one to keep an eye on. Is the Nectar Luxe Hybrid worth the luxury price? Keep reading to find out.

Nectar Luxe Hybrid Performance Ratings
How the Nectar Luxe Hybrid Compares
Here at Sleep Advisor, we’ve tested over 150 different mattresses. The Nectar Luxe Hybrid outperforms the average mattress we’ve tested in pressure relief, motion isolation, and cooling. On top of that, it has a higher profile and longer sleep trial than most beds we’ve reviewed.
Test | Nectar Luxe Hybrid | Average |
Overall | 3.9 | 4.1 |
Mattress Height | 14” | 11″ |
Sleep Trial | 365 Nights | 141 Nights |
Price (Queen) | $2,249 | $1,695 |
Pressure Relief | 5 | 4.3 |

Bounce | 2.5 | 4 |
Edge Support | 3 | 3.9 |
Couples | 3 | 3.9 |
Who I Recommend The Nectar Luxe Hybrid For:
- Side sleepers – This was the sleep position I enjoyed most testing this mattress, and since it’s a softer bed, this didn’t surprise me.
- People with achy joints – This bed did very well during my pressure relief tests, so if you’re concerned about waking up with achy joints, I think this is one worth considering.
- Light sleepers – If you’re a light sleeper who is easily bothered by your partner’s movement, the excellent motion-isolating capabilities of the Nectar Luxe Hybrid should help you sleep undisturbed.
Who I Don’t Recommend The Nectar Luxe Hybrid For:
- Sexually active couples – The Nectar Luxe Hybrid hardly has any bounce to it. I could sexually active couples getting stuck during sex. Instead, take a look at other mattresses for sex here.
- Stomach sleepers – A softer bed like the Nectar Luxe Hybrid might be great for side sleeping, but it’s just the opposite for the stomach. This mattress is just too soft to leave stomach sleepers supported. We have a list of great beds for stomach sleepers for more options.
Customer Reviews of the Nectar Luxe Hybrid
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid has 4.4 out of 5 stars based on over 1,100 reviews. Several customers have noted that this mattress is helpful for their back pain, whereas others felt it caused their back to hurt and was too soft.
Testing the Nectar Luxe Hybrid
Sleep Advisor’s Testing Methodology
I used Sleep Advisor’s in-depth product review process to help me test the Nectar Luxe Hybrid. These tests include hands-on experiences and data tools to measure categories such as pressure relief, cooling, motion isolation, and more. I also evaluated how well the bed performed in different sleeping positions.
Together, these tests allowed me to see who I would and wouldn’t recommend this mattress to.
Firmness & Feel
Firmness Scale: 5.5/10
Mattress firmness is a gauge for how soft or hard a mattress feels. It’s important to keep in mind this is subjective, but we rate this so you can have a general idea of what you can expect from a mattress.
Sleep Advisor has a 1-10 mattress firmness scale, in which 10 is the firmest feel. I’m an average-weight sleeper and rated this mattress a 5.5, so it has a medium feel but is still softer than other Nectar models.
How Does the Nectar Luxe Hybrid Feel?
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid is pretty soft, which I’m guessing is due to its thicker layer of memory foam. The brand’s Luxe models actually have the thickest layer of memory foam in them. If you love a traditional memory foam feel, I think you’ll appreciate this model.
Sleeping Positions for Different Body Types
According to Nectar, their queen-size mattresses can support up to 1,000 pounds.
Side Sleepers
Body Type | Weight Range | Tester Feedback |
---|---|---|
Lightweight Sleepers | Less than 130 pounds | A lightweight coworker tried out this mattress and loved it on her side. This bed is soft enough that petite sleepers should get plenty of pressure-relieving comfort from it. |
Average-Weight Sleepers | 130-230 pounds | I dug it on my side. It was very contouring and supportive. I would definitely recommend it for side sleepers. |
Heavyweight Sleepers | More than 230 pounds | Heavyweight sleepers could sink too much that it compromises their spine alignment. I might suggest something slightly firmer to compensate for this. |
Back Sleepers
Body Type | Weight Range | Tester Feedback |
---|---|---|
Lightweight Sleepers | Less than 130 pounds | This might have been too soft to hit the mark for me, but my lightweight colleague enjoyed this bed for back sleeping and felt nicely supported on it. |
Average-Weight Sleepers | 130-230 pounds | It was a mixed bag on my back. The squishiness felt good around my spine and lower back. The contouring was also nice, but yet it wasn’t hitting for some reason. Could be personal preference, though, since I thought the bed was too soft for me. |
Heavyweight Sleepers | More than 230 pounds | I wouldn’t recommend it for heavier people. If it was too soft for me, an average-weight person, it’ll be too plush for anyone who weighs above 230 pounds. |
Stomach Sleepers
Body Type | Weight Range | Tester Feedback |
---|---|---|
Lightweight Sleepers | Less than 130 pounds | Our lightweight tester didn’t feel supported enough under her hips in this position. |
Average-Weight Sleepers | 130-230 pounds | Stomach sleepers likely won’t get enough support. This one’s just too squishy. I liked when I was on my stomach with no pillow, but felt tightness around my lower back with a pillow. |
Heavyweight Sleepers | More than 230 pounds | This bed will be much too soft for heavier stomach sleepers, and likely won’t keep their hips from dipping. Instead, these folks should look at beds built for heavyweight sleepers for better support for their body type. |
Pressure Relief
5/5
To test pressure relief, I place a pressure map on the top of the mattress and then lie down on my side and back, which are the two sleep positions most reliant on good pressure relief.
My pressure map readings showed mostly blue and green, with just a hint of yellow (and I mean a hint of it!) for side sleeping. This means there was barely any pressure buildup while I was on this mattress.
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid’s foams really came through to keep body pressure at bay, which earned this mattress a perfect score.

Is the Nectar Luxe Hybrid Good for Pain Relief?
I think the Nectar Luxe Hybrid’s exceptional pressure-relieving capabilities could be helpful for those with joint pain, but back pain could be an issue on this bed.
Back Pain | The Nectar Luxe Hybrid’s softer feel isn’t ideal for stomach sleepers and might end up exacerbating lower back pain by not supporting the midsection enough. Back sleepers with back pain might do okay though. Read more about mattresses for back pain here. |
Hip Pain | If you’re a side sleeper with hip pain, this one should help mitigate pressure that can make pain worse. Read more about mattresses for hip pain here. |
Shoulder Pain | Likewise, with shoulder pain, this bed should help relieve pain and pressure in this area thanks to its softer foam and overall feel. Explore more mattresses for shoulder pain here. |
Support
4/5
The Nectar’s Luxe Hybrid’s support system includes the Dynamic Response Layer, which is a foam aimed at spinal support. This is followed by the coil unit, and then below that a conventional foam for even more support.
When I evaluate a mattress’s support, I see how well my heaviest areas remain lifted in each sleeping position so that my spine stays in a healthy alignment. However, the thickness of the support layers and my firmness rating also factor into my score.
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid earned a 4 out of 5 because it has at least a 5 out of 10 firmness rating and the support layer is more than 6 inches tall. It also only really did poorly at support in one position (stomach sleeping).
Motion Isolation
5/5
A bed with good motion isolation means that you don’t run the risk of constantly noticing every time your partner moves around or gets in and out of bed. Understandably, this is something we consider a helpful feature for many couples, especially if one of them is a light sleeper.
I tested this using a seismograph app, which picks up motion disturbances while I lie down on one side of the bed and my colleague moves around on the other side. As you can see in our seismograph reading, there are barely any spikes, which shows minimal motion transfer. This easily earned the Nectar Luxe Hybrid a 5 out of 5.
Temperature Regulation / Cooling
4/5
Cooling features are important for folks who sleep hot, but they can also come in handy for many couples since there’s obviously extra body heat when you share a bed. Nectar touts the Luxe line as “2x more cooling” than their Classic models, but did it live up to the hype?
To put this to the test, I used a temperature gun, taking an initial temperature reading of the bed before lying on it followed by additional readings after lying on it for five minutes and then 10 minutes. After five minutes, the temperature jumped roughly 6 degrees and then went up about 1 degree at the 10-minute mark.
We typically give a 5 out of 5 for cooling if it only goes up 5 degrees or less, and while this bed was cool to the touch, it didn’t stay cool under my body. I expected a little more but couldn’t tell much difference between this Nectar and their other models. For this reason, I took off a point
Bounce
2.5/5
A mattress that’s more buoyant and quick-responding to movement can help make it easier to reposition, which is typically helpful for anyone with limited mobility (such as older adults), sexually active couples, and combination sleepers.
My testing for the Nectar Luxe Hybrid included jumping on the mattress and dropping a weighted medicine ball on it. These tests helped me evaluate how quickly (or not) the materials bounced back after weight was applied.
Jumping on it felt as if I was trying to launch myself off a pile of marshmallows; I didn’t catch much air at all. The ball drop test showed a very slight bounce — not total thud but not much spring back. Since the bounce was so minimal, I only gave the Nectar Luxe Hybrid a 2.5 out of 5 here.
Edge Support
3/5
Edge support is about how well the sides of the mattress keep you supported. Great edge support lets co-sleepers spread out and can help people feel secure if they’re sitting on the bed while getting ready or just getting in and out of bed.
I tested this by lying down on the edge for a minute and then by sitting and bending over to try tying my shoes for a minute. What I found was that the foam was too squishy. I didn’t feel like I was going to roll off when I was lying on my side, but I wasn’t thrilled with how far I sunk into the mattress. I definitely sunk a good bit when sitting and bending over.
The cover also makes it feel slick. This should be ok once a sheet is on it, but if you’re sitting on the cover, be prepared for a little slipping and sliding. Based on my testing results, the Nectar Luxe Hybrid only earned a 3 for its edge support.
Accessibility
4/5
Our accessibility score looks at any ways the mattress and/or brand go the extra mile. Nectar’s consumer policies are exceptional: a year-long sleep trial, free returns, and a Forever warranty. However, they do charge extra for white glove delivery.
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid is marketed as a cooling mattress, but I don’t think it necessarily delivers as much cooling as you might expect. However, it does contain more memory foam, which likely contributes to how well it relieves pressure. Because the cooling wasn’t as impressive as I had hoped, I took off a point here.
Customer Service
4/5
Understandably, customer service is an important consideration for shoppers, and good customer service is especially helpful when you’re shopping online. As mentioned, I appreciate their longer sleep trial and warranty. Nectar also provides an online quiz to help steer people toward the right mattress.
I like that you can get in touch with the company via phone, email, or their website chat feature. I will say sometimes this chat feature isn’t the most helpful, but I think it just depends on the question and the answer you get. For this reason, I took off a point.
Performance for Couples
3/5
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid has some helpful attributes for coupes (motion isolation, high weight capacity), but overall, I think it’s probably the weakest compared to Nectar’s Premier and Classic lines.
Our couple’s score is based on how it performs in categories useful to couples, which include overall support, edge support, motion isolation, cooling, and bounce. We also consider the weight capacity and firmness rating. Based on the Nectar Luxe Hybrid’s softer feel and performance in these other categories, I only rated it a 3 out of 5.

Construction: What’s Inside the Nectar Luxe Hybrid?
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid boasts a 14-inch profile. The Luxe beds are the tallest in Nectar’s mattress inventory. The Nectar Luxe Hybrid is replacing the Premier Copper Hybrid. Some changes to take note of are that this mattress does not have a Euro top, and there are no copper fibers in it.
- The cover of the Nectar Luxe Hybrid is designed for breathability and moisture-wicking, and it has an antimicrobial treatment to help fight off bacteria growth.
- A Therapeutic Memory Foam sits below the cover. This layer aims to deliver pressure relief to the body’s joints.
- The Responsive Support Layer is a transitional foam unit between the memory foam and coils. This unit is meant to help provide additional support.
- The coil unit stands 8 inches high. Along with overall support, these coils provide airflow throughout the mattress. There are also two rows of thicker coils along the sides to enhance edge support, and each coil is individually wrapped in fabric to assist in motion isolation.
- The foundation layer is a thin layer of foam below the coils for added support and stability.
- The ShiftResistant Lower Cover at the bottom helps keep these layers in place.
Unboxing & Off-Gassing
Nectar will ship the Luxe Hybrid in a box. This means it’ll arrive at your home compressed and rolled up. Bed-in-a-box shipping can help make it easier to transport to your bedroom. All you need to do is remove the mattress from the box, place it on your bed frame, take off the plastic wrapping, and then let it unfold. You’ll see it start to expand right away.
You may notice a new mattress smell, which is often referred to as off-gassing. This is common in memory foam beds that are compressed for shipment, but the smell should dissipate. Just give it some time air out before putting any bedding on it. One or two days should be plenty of time.
Certifications
- CertiPUR-US® – The foams in this bed are CertiPUR-US® certified. CertiPUR-US® is a third-party program that ensures the foams meet rigorous health and safety standards. This means they don’t contain harmful substances like ozone depleters, PBDEs, heavy metals, formaldehyde, and phthalates. They should also have low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions.

Nectar Luxe Hybrid FAQs
What are the negatives of a hybrid mattress?
Hybrids are typically more expensive than all-foam models. In some cases, they may have more motion transfer because of the coils, but Nectar’s hybrids have actually impressed me with their ability to limit motion transfer.
How long will a Nectar hybrid mattress last?
A Nectar hybrid should last sevent to 10 years.
Is a Nectar hybrid mattress good for back pain?
I would go with the Nectar Premier Hybrid or Nectar Classic Hybrid instead of the Luxe Hybrid if you have back pain. These are slightly firmer in comparison, which should provide better back support. However, I am a fan of their foam models and think the Nectar Classic Memory Foam is worth checking out if you have back pain.
Is a Nectar hybrid mattress good for a heavy person?
In general, I don’t think Nectar mattresses are the best choice for heavier people above 230 pounds. Instead, I would recommend a firmer mattress or one designed specifically for plus-size sleepers.

My Verdict of the Nectar Luxe Hybrid
So is the Luxe Hybrid worth the extra money? I think this depends on what you want in a mattress. It’s a great one for side sleepers; the thicker memory foam layer lends itself to an overall softer feel that should benefit this group the most. However, stomach sleepers and some back sleepers may want something firmer to ensure optimal back support.
Even though this bed is designed for enhanced cooling, I really didn’t notice a major difference between this one and other Nectar beds. Overall, this mattress earned a 3.9 out of 5.
