The Frontier is a hybrid bed made by Canadian manufacturer Logan & Cove. This is the second mattress in the family-run company’s line-up and is offered as a more upscale version of the Choice Hybrid. Logan & Cove is proudly Canadian and constructs all of their products in Canada.
So, Canadian shoppers, is the mattress you’ve been looking for? I conducted several hands-on tests for this review to provide a comprehensive overview. Did I agree with Logan & Cove’s description of this mattress, or did I have a totally different experience? There’s only one way to find out — read on.

Who I Recommend the Logan & Cove Frontier Hybrid For:
- Couples – Not all mattresses have excellent motion control and top-notch bounce, but the Logan & Cove Frontier Hybrid has both. These features, plus solid edge support, make it a standout choice for those who share their bed.
- Affordable luxury shoppers – The Frontier Hybrid has many top-notch features of luxury beds, including a plush Euro top and high-quality materials. However, it has a more budget-friendly price tag than many of its competitors.
- Combination sleepers – I thought this bed had a “moon boots” feel because it was so responsive. Combination sleepers should love how easy it is to reposition in this bed because of this.
Who I Don’t Recommend the Logan & Cove Frontier Hybrid For:
- Pressure relief seekers – Although this bed wasn’t the worst when it came to pressure relief, it was lacking. This was particularly true for stomach sleeping, as this is where I felt a considerable spinal misalignment, which can put pressure on the lower back.
- Stomach sleepers – With its super soft pillow top, I think stomach sleepers will not receive the kind of support they need to keep their hips lifted. These sleepers will likely sag too deeply in the bed, which could lead to lower back pain.
- Firm mattress fans – The Logan & Cove Frontier Hybrid is a noticeably softer bed. For those who prefer a firm feel, this mattress will almost certainly be too plush for them.
Customer Reviews of the Logan & Cove Frontier Hybrid Mattress
According to the Logan & Cove website, the Frontier Hybrid mattress is rated 4.8 out of 5 stars. It is a relatively new mattress, so it only has a little over 300 reviews at this time. Customers value the Logan & Cove mattress for its luxurious pillow-top comfort and excellent support, but some found it to be too soft for their needs.

Firmness & Feel
Firmness Scale: 5/10
Please remember that firmness is a subjective characteristic and your body type will dictate how you experience a bed. A heavier person whose weight can more easily push through softer comfort and support layers might experience a bed as softer than a lightweight person. The way you are shaped could also play a role here. Consider your weight, shape, and size when evaluating firmness scores.
Although the Logan & Cove website states that the Frontier is a medium-firm mattress, this differs from what I experienced. Instead, I thought this mattress was soft and gave it a 5 out of 10 based on our mattress’s firmness scale, which goes to show how the feel of a mattress is subjective.
This also depends on the person’s body type. I am average-weight, so I probably had a different experience than someone lighter or heavier in weight. That said, I appreciated how supported I felt by the targeted zones in the coil unit, and I liked how the foam layers contoured around my body.
How Does It Feel?
The Frontier Euro-top is luxuriously soft, which is a great introduction to this bed. As I settled in, I was impressed with how the foam contoured my body. I was surprised by the lack of pressure relief, though, and I would have liked to experience more for a mattress in this price range.
Sleeping Positions for Different Body Types
The Logan & Cove website states that the total weight capacity for this mattress is 500 pounds.
Side Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – The Frontier’s soft pillow top allows lightweight side sleepers to sink into the mattress and experience gentle contouring before the base of coils activates the support.
- Average-Weight Sleepers – As an average-weight sleeper, I received a lot of pressure relief when testing this mattress by lying on my side. I think that average-weight side sleepers should find plenty of pressure relief with the Logan & Cove Frontier.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – Heavyweight side sleepers will likely push through the pillow top too quickly, causing them to sink into the bed too much. This amount of sinking could cause awkward spinal alignment and pressure buildup.
Back Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – Lightweight back sleepers should enjoy that the Frontier Hybrid can provide plush comfort thanks to the Euro top and supportive spinal alignment because of the sturdy coil unit.
- Average-Weight Sleepers – While lying on my back, my spine felt straight and supported. That said, I would have appreciated a little more pressure relief in this position.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – The softness of the Euro top provides a great deal of comfort, but heavyweight back sleepers will likely push too far into the bed, likely compromising their body alignment and comfort.
Stomach Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – Lighter stomach sleepers should enjoy the Frontier Hybrid. Although their heavier counterparts may sink too far, I think those on the lower end of the scale will appreciate the softness and support of this mattress.
- Average-Weight Sleepers – My hips dipped further than I would have liked when testing this mattress on my stomach. This lack of lift put my spine in an uncomfortable position.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – Heavyweight stomach sleepers will likely want to avoid this mattress. Their hips will probably not be elevated, and this can lead to a host of issues, including pain from pressure buildup and a hyperextended spine. For extra support, I recommend these sleepers check out our list of the top beds for heavyweight sleepers.
Pressure Relief
3.5/5
I am an average-weight sleeper, and I was impressed with the pressure relief this bed provided when I was testing it on my side. While there wasn’t a noticeable buildup of pressure when I was on my back and stomach, I would have preferred more pressure relief in these positions.
I think the Frontier Hybrid will relieve pressure well for most lightweight and average-weight sleepers. However, heavyweight people, especially those who prefer to sleep on their stomachs, may experience uncomfortable levels of pressure buildup due to the softness of this bed.
Is the Logan & Cove Frontier Hybrid Mattress Good for Pain Relief?
Waking up free of aches and pains is a goal for many sleepers, and finding the right mattress for your sleep position and body weight can do wonders for achieving this. The Frontier’s plush Euro top wraps you in a hug, and the upper foam layers contour your body as the base coils provide support. These features could relieve pain for many people, especially those with small to average builds. However, this bed probably needs to be firmer for heavyweight sleepers, who will sink through the top layers too quickly, potentially exacerbating pain.
Back Pain
I was well-supported on my back and side, though I didn’t feel as supported while on my stomach. The sinkage I experienced while on my stomach is why I wouldn’t recommend this for stomach sleepers with back pain since the Frontier could end up worsening it. I would also say the Frontier is likely too soft for heavyweight sleepers with back pain.
Discover some more helpful finds for back pain in our list of the best mattresses for back pain.
Hip Pain
I think the Frontier Hybrid could suit lightweight and average-weight folks with hip pain. This bed should provide a good mid-section lift that should help relieve pain around the hips and prevent spinal misalignment while on the back or side. However, heavier sleepers will likely sag deep into the mattress, which could accumulate pressure around the hips.
Shoulder Pain
As with back and hip pain, this mattress should do a great job relieving shoulder pain for those with petite or average builds due to the soft pillow top, contouring foam, and supportive base. I didn’t detect any pressure when I tested the Frontier Hybrid for side sleeping. Heavyweight sleepers, however, will likely crash through the layers and not experience any cushioning from the softer top layers.
Support
4/5
This bed had plenty of support when I was on my side and back. I loved how my hips felt lifted, and my spine was straight and well-aligned. I deducted a point, though, because, during my testing for stomach sleeping, my stomach and hips felt like they were sinking into the bed too much.
Motion Transfer
5/5
The plush Euro top and the layers of foam do a great job of isolating motion. I also conducted seismograph tests on this mattress and was impressed with how well those turned out. I recommend this bed to couples and other co-sleepers because it will prevent motion created by one sleeper from transferring to the other. Therefore, the Frontier Hybrid is an excellent choice if you sleep with a restless partner.
Temperature Regulation / Cooling
4/5
The Frontier’s cooling cover and ecoLuxe® cooling gel foam absorb heat well, and the coils allow heat to dissipate rather than build up. The materials and construction of this mattress should do a great job at keeping sleepers cool.

Bounce
4/5
The Logan & Cover Frontier Hybrid’s bounce reminded me of “moon boots”, as I felt like an astronaut unencumbered by gravity when I was testing bed. The bed was incredibly responsive, but I noticed it lagged slightly because of the soft pillow top. I deducted a point for this, but if there were a firmer surface, I think this bed would have instantaneous bounceback, which would have earned it a perfect score in this category.
Edge Support
4/5
There was a slight disagreement on the edge support score. My fellow testers were leaning toward giving it a 3 out of 5, but after considering their feedback and my testing, I felt it warranted a higher score.
Sitting on the side of the Frontier Hybrid made me feel slightly unstable, but I felt plenty of hold while lying close to the perimeter. Although I noticed a little sink at the pillow top, the coils did an excellent job of keeping you securely on the bed.
Performance for Couples
4/5
Sleeping with a partner is a different experience than going to bed alone. Couples sharing a bed can benefit from motion isolation, edge support, bounce, and cooling. The Frontier Hybrid performed well in all of these categories.
I think this mattress is a great choice for couples as it should allow those with restless partners to sleep undisturbed due to its motion isolation capabilities, but it still has excellent bounce, which makes it easier for sexually active couples to reposition. Additionally, the edge support can allow couples to utilize the entire surface, while the cooling technology will help keep couples from overheating.

Construction: What’s Inside the Logan & Cove Frontier?
The Logan & Cove Frontier is 13.5 inches tall, regardless of the mattress size. You will first be met with a soft, luxurious quilted Euro top that incorporates CryoFusion™ fibers designed to aid in cooling. Also, to increase comfort, Logan & Cove uses breathable hollow-fiber fill and quilted gel-infused foam in the Frontier.
- Under the Euro top, you’ll find 1 inch of ecoLuxe® cooling gel foam that wraps you in a gentle hug. This layer targets pressure points and pulls away body heat.
- Moving further down, you’ll find 1-inch-high aeroduct micro coils. These adaptive micro coils are designed to conform to your body and allow air to flow freely for temperature regulation.
- Below the micro coils is a premium soy-infused Elastex® foam that contours to your body to help support you and relieve pressure.
- This bed’s base layer is made up of 9-inch individually wrapped coils. The coils in this unit are arranged in five zones to keep your spine aligned and your whole body supported.
Unboxing & Off-Gassing
Your Logan & Cove Frontier will be compressed, rolled, and shipped in a box. Logan & Cove (and I) suggest that two people carry the box, and once it is in its desired location, tip the box over, carefully cut it open, and place your rolled mattress on your bed base. At this time, you will need to remove the plastic from the mattress. Your mattress should immediately start to expand and reach its full size in a matter of minutes. You can sleep on your bed the same day it arrives.
You may notice a chemical smell, known as off-gassing when it expands. The scent may be unpleasant, but it isn’t harmful. If you notice this, know that it should dissipate fairly quickly. You can place the mattress in a well-ventilated room to speed up the process.
Certifications
- CertiPUR-US® certified – The foams in this bed are CertiPUR-US® certified. CertiPUR-US® is a third-party program that ensures the foams meet rigorous health and safety standards. This means they don’t contain harmful substances like ozone depleters, PBDEs, heavy metals, formaldehyde, and phthalates. They should also have low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions.

Logan & Cove bed’s hybrid design includes a soft Euro top, contouring foam, and supportive coils that could help with back pain for certain sleepers. That said, average and lightweight sleepers who lie on their side or back could potentially get some nice back pain relief from this bed.

All Logan & Cove mattresses are made in Canada. The country’s natural beauty inspired the company name, and it pays homage to Mt. Logan and Peggy’s Cove.
How many coils do Logan & Cove mattresses have?

My Verdict
The Logan & Cove Frontier is a high-end Canadian-made hybrid mattress. Based on my experience, I think should make an excellent choice for couples, those who sleep hot, and shoppers who want a well-constructed, luxury mattress at an affordable price.
The Frontier is a softer mattress with good support for lightweight and average-weight sleepers. However, heavyweight people and stomach sleepers should find a firmer mattress. This mattress earned a 4.1 overall score.
