The Silk & Snow Hybrid is a Canadian-made mattress dedicated to providing locally sourced, handmade mattresses at an affordable price. In addition to its all-foam mattress, Silk & Snow now has a hybrid version of their flagship bed. This mattress uses a combination of memory foam layers and individually-pocketed coils.
In this article, I will explain the construction of this mattress and its performance, providing detailed information and evaluations based on my hands-on testing experience.

Who I Recommend the Silk & Snow Hybrid For:
- Stomach sleepers – The zoned coils provide targeted support for the midsection. This design feature helps elevate the hips, providing comfortable spinal alignment for stomach sleepers.
- Sexually active people – The Silk & Snow Hybrid has fantastic bounce, making it easy to reposition, which is why it could be a great choice for sexually active couples.
- Pressure relief seekers – The soft pillow top and slow-moving foam layers provide cushioning and contouring while the zoned coils give balanced support. The combination of these materials and construction helps eliminate pressure buildup.
Who I Don’t Recommend the Silk & Snow Hybrid For:
- Those looking for a removable cover – Unlike the all-foam Silk & Snow model, this model doesn’t have a removable cover. Take a look at my Silk and Snow foam mattress review if you want to try that bed instead.
- Shoppers who want American-made products – Silk & Snow products are proudly made in Canada. If you want to buy a mattress made in the U.S., we’ve got a great list of American-made beds you can check out.
Customer Reviews of the Silk & Snow Hybrid Mattress
With over 3,500 customer reviews, the Silk & Snow Hybrid has a 4.8 out of 5 rating. Many cite the comfort and supportiveness as pros for this mattress. Although there weren’t many complaints, a recurring one was that the mattress was not as firm as advertised.
Testing the Silk & Snow Hybrid Mattress
Sleep Advisor’s Testing Methodology
At Sleep Advisor, we believe the best way to provide you with an accurate mattress evaluation is hands-on testing. Through this testing, I was able to evaluate the Silk & Snow Hybrid for a variety of performance categories.
I also included feedback from other members of our team to get a more thorough understanding of how the Silk & Snow Hybrid does for different body types. While I’m an average-weight sleeper, I had Loren Bullock come in as our lightweight tester for this bed and Spencer Bland as our plus-size tester.

Firmness & Feel
Firmness Scale: 6/10
Please remember that firmness is a subjective characteristic and your body type will dictate how you experience a bed. A heavier person whose weight can more easily push through softer comfort and support layers might experience a bed as softer than a lightweight person. The way you are shaped could also play a role here. Consider your weight, shape, and size when evaluating firmness scores.
We rate mattress firmness on a 1-10 scale, with 10 being the absolute firmest feel you can get. The Silk & Snow Hybrid received a 6 out of 10 from me. The great news here is that this means the bed has a medium-firm feel, which can appeal to a wide variety of sleepers.
How Does It Feel?
I immediately noticed the softness of the pillow top. Although Silk & Snow doesn’t officially label it as a Euro top, I still that it is because it has a padded, tufted surface for extra cushion and is adhered along the edges for stability. I liked how this bed weaved gentle comfort and balanced support while not being too soft or too hard.
Sleeping Positions for Different Body Types
The Silk & Snow Hybrid is constructed to hold 500 pounds per person, which means it can hold up to 1,000 pounds for couples.
Side Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – Loren liked the cushioning on this bed and experienced good spine alignment for side sleeping. She felt it was a more comfortable fit than the all-foam version of this bed.
- Average-Weight Sleepers – There was more sink than I anticipated. Often, I experience less sinkage on hybrid beds. This is important to note because sinking too much can lead to spinal misalignment, so I wouldn’t recommend it for those with lower back pain. However, it has wonderful pressure relief.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – This is an interesting mattress for heavyweight side sleepers. On the one hand, Spencer experienced a lot of sinking around his midsection, which could lead to lumbar pain. However, he still felt it had a comfortable surface.

Back Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – According to Loren, the Silk & Snow Hybrid is a comfy, even-keeled mattress for lightweight back sleepers. The cushioned top provided comfort, and she felt some pressure relief around her midsection.
- Average-Weight Sleepers – Although I noticed some slight sinkage at the hips, the cushiony pillow top meant my spinal alignment wasn’t compromised. I appreciated how evenly my weight was distributed.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – Spencer experienced more sinking while on his back compared to side and stomach testing. However, he still felt the bed gave him good lumbar support and a comfortable sleep surface.

Stomach Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – Based on Loren’s experience, this bed is soft enough that lightweight stomach sleepers should find it comfortable and firm enough to offer balanced support.
- Average-Weight Sleepers – I LOVE the Silk & Snow Hybrid so much for average-weight stomach sleepers that I am considering getting one for myself. The coils kept my hips elevated and spine aligned while I luxuriated in the pressure-relieving cushion of the pillow top.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – Some heavyweight stomach sleepers may experience a little sink around their midsection, but it shouldn’t be much. Overall, though, Spencer preferred the Silk & Snow foam model to this one.

Pressure Relief
4/5
I expected this bed’s memory foam option to provide better pressure relief than the hybrid. However, I was wrong about that. The pillow top makes this mattress softer, and this contributes heavily to its ability to relieve pressure. The cozy foam contours pressure points to provide some welcome relief.
Is the Silk & Snow Hybrid Mattress Good for Pain Relief?
The Silk & Snow does an excellent job of relieving pain. The pillow top brings substantial cushioning, and the sturdy, individually wrapped coils provide a well-balanced distribution of weight. By keeping the body both gently contoured and elevated, there is little worry about pressure buildup or awkward spinal alignment for most sleepers.
Back Pain
Although there was some sinkage around the midsection, particularly for heavyweight sleepers, it wasn’t that noticeable or problematic. There is ample pressure relief and support that should do an excellent job of preventing and alleviating back pain.
Hip Pain
The soft, comfortable pillow top, mid-level firmness, and supportive coils elevate most sleepers properly. These features can help prevent the midsection from sinking, which means that there should be little to no pressure buildup around the hip.
Shoulder Pain
The shoulder is a small area that often absorbs much of our weight when we are sleeping, and this can lead to pain. However, the Silk & Snow Hybrid should do an impressive job of alleviating this pain thanks to its soft pillow top, medium firmness, and even weight distribution.

Support
4/5
The sturdy, zoned coils in the Silk & Snow Hybrid provide ample lumbar support for stomach and back sleeping. Side sleepers may sink into the mattress a little. Although this wasn’t a significant issue, I deducted one point because it could exacerbate existent back pain for side sleepers.
Motion Isolation
3/5
In addition to hands-on testing, I used a seismograph app to chart and evaluate how well motion was isolated to the side of the mattress where it was generated. Foam layers typically absorb motion well, so I was a bit surprised that I felt as much motion as I did. Those with restless partners may want to find an alternative to the Silk & Snow Hybrid. Our Best Memory Foam Mattress list is a good place to find a mattress that isolates motion well.
Temperature Regulation / Cooling
3/5
The open structure of the coils promotes airflow that helps dissipate body heat. However, other than that, I didn’t detect any cooling properties. That said, I also didn’t notice a temperature spike when I was testing. The Silk & Snow Hybrid may not be the best choice for particularly hot sleepers, but those who don’t get particularly hot during the night may not be bothered by it.
Bounce
5/5
I was impressed with the bounce and responsiveness of the Silk & Snow Hybrid, giving it a 5 out of 5. The surface of the bed bounced back almost immediately. In addition to this mattress quickly responding to weight, it also supports you as you go. Combination sleepers and sexually active couples should appreciate how easily they can reposition.
Edge Support
5/5
The coils and extra firm perimeter of the Silk & Snow Hybrid help prevent sinking when you’re sitting or lying near the edge of the bed, which is why it earned a perfect score here. This feature makes this bed a great choice for those who may need a boost getting out of bed or couples who want to spread out without concern of falling out of bed.
Performance for Couples
4/5
Performance categories such as bounce, motion isolation, edge support, and temperature regulation are important features for couples to consider. The Silk & Snow Hybrid excels in bounce and edge support but is average when it comes to preventing motion transfer and keeping sleepers cool. I recommend this bed for some couples, but if you have a restless partner or sleep particularly hot, this may not be an optimal choice.

Construction: What’s Inside the Silk & Snow Hybrid?
All sizes of the Silk & Snow Hybrid are 12 inches tall and weigh between 61 pounds for a Twin and 124 pounds for a King.
- The cover is made with antimicrobial polyester that protects sleepers from bacteria.
- Directly under the cover, there is a 1-inch layer of quilted foam that is infused with cooling gel and hollow fibers that help keep sleepers cool.
- The third layer is 2 inches of high-density memory foam that encourages pressure relief.
- Beneath the memory foam, you’ll find 600-1,200 individual coils (depending on mattress size). This section is zoned to provide a firmer middle and balanced support.
The Silk & Snow has an extra firm perimeter that reinforces the structure and prevents sagging when sitting or lying near the edge of the bed.
Unboxing & Off-Gassing
The Silk & Snow Hybrid arrives compressed and rolled in a box. This delivery method means that your bed will be conveniently placed on your doorstep, but given the weight of these mattresses, you may want someone to help you bring it inside.
Once inside, you will remove it from the box and place it on the foundation. Your Silk & Snow Hybrid should immediately start to take shape. While it is inflating, you may notice a chemical smell. This is known as off-gassing. Although it may be unpleasant, it is not abnormal. Place the mattress in a well-ventilated area to help this smell dissipate more quickly.
Certifications
- The foams in this bed are CertiPUR-US® certified. CertiPUR-US® is a third-party program that ensures the foams meet rigorous health and safety standards. This means they don’t contain harmful substances like ozone depleters, PBDEs, heavy metals, formaldehyde, and phthalates. They should also have low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions.
