DreamCloud is beloved within the mattress space for their competitive prices and hotel-quality features. The brand also offers an industry-leading lifetime warranty and a 365-night sleep trial.
Two of their more well-known mattresses are the DreamCloud and DreamCloud Premier. While the DreamCloud is their original hybrid option, the Premier is meant to be an upgrade from the original model. I tested the DreamCloud Original, while my colleague Julia tested the DreamCloud Premier, and this comparison will go over our results to see which bed comes out on top.

DreamCloud vs. DreamCloud Premier: Firmness, Feel, and Construction
Firmness & Feel
Our firmness scale of 1-10 determines how plush or firm a bed is. A 1 is the softest you can get, while a 10 is the firmest. Most beds fall within the middle of this, and in the case of these two beds, our testers rated the DreamCloud firmer than the Premier.
Mattress | Sleep Advisor Firmness Rating | Feel | Tester Feedback |
---|---|---|---|
DreamCloud | 7.5/10 | Firm | The DreamCloud feels firmer than your average hybrid. It has a firm core interior made up of thicker foam layers, while its supportive coil system also helps generate an “on the bed” feel. |
DreamCloud Premier | 6.5/10 | Medium-Firm | The DreamCloud Premier is slightly softer in comparison. Its Euro top layer gives it a somewhat plusher feel, but the dynamic transition foam layer kicks in to help prevent “bottoming out,” or sinking into the middle of the bed. |
Mattress Construction
The DreamCloud and DreamCloud Premier are similar in their construction and the materials within them. The only major difference between the two beds is the height; the DreamCloud is 12 inches tall, while the DreamCloud Premier is slightly taller at 13 inches. The Premier has slightly thicker gel memory foam and transition foam, which give it an extra inch of height.

DreamCloud vs. DreamCloud Premier: Mattress Testing Performance
Pressure Relief
- DreamCloud Mattress Pressure Relief Score: 4.5/5
- DreamCloud Premier Pressure Relief Score: 4.5/5
We use a pressure map to generate a colored image that shows any areas of pressure buildup for side or back sleeping. Green means little pressure, yellow means moderate, and red means lots.
As you can see, Julia and I rated these beds well for pressure relief. I deducted a half-point from the DreamCloud’s score because it may not be as pressure-relieving for lighter or heavier sleepers, and Julia took off a half-point from the Premier since she noticed some pressure buildup in her shoulders, which you can see on her pressure map image with the red and yellow.
Support
- DreamCloud Mattress Support Score: 4.5/5
- DreamCloud Premier Support Score: 4.5/5
We test support by lying on a mattress on our side, back, and stomach, gauging how well our spine remains in a healthy and neutral alignment. We rated the Original and Premier equally thanks to their great support. We only deducted a half-point for each score because there was a slight dip in the hips when we tested these beds for stomach sleeping.
Motion Isolation
- DreamCloud Mattress Motion Isolation Score: 5/5
- DreamCloud Premier Motion Isolation Score: 3.5/5
Motion isolation is how well a bed absorbs movement, which is often most beneficial for co-sleepers so that they’re less likely to wake up their partner if they move around at night. We use a seismograph app to measure movement transfer while our fellow testers shift around on top of the bed like you would in the middle of the night while changing sleeping positions.
The Original had virtually no motion transfer on our app, and I didn’t feel any movement either. Conversely, Julia could feel bigger movements (like getting in and out of bed) on the Premier, which is why it only got an average score for motion isolation.
Temperature Regulation / Cooling
- DreamCloud Mattress Cooling Score: 4/5
- DreamCloud Premier Cooling Score: 3.5/5
We use a temperature gun to measure the temperature of a mattress before lying on it, and then after five and 10 minutes of lying on it. The Original slightly outperformed the Premier, making it a better choice for hot sleepers. However, neither bed was truly exceptional at this, so if you’re an extra-hot sleeper who needs something more advanced, I recommend looking at our top cooling mattresses list for some more choices.
Bounce
- DreamCloud Mattress Bounce Score: 5/5
- DreamCloud Premier Bounce Score: 4.5/5
Bounce can impact how easy it is to move around on a mattress. This is an important feature for active or combo sleepers who change sleeping positions often throughout the night.
We test bounce by dropping a ball on the mattress and then seeing how quickly the bed “bounces” back up. The DreamCloud Original Hybrid was very bouncy and responsive, while the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid took slightly more time to return to its original shape (though it still has great bounce).
Edge Support
- DreamCloud Mattress Edge Support Score: 4.5/5
- DreamCloud Premier Edge Support Score: 3.5/5
We test edge support by sitting and lying on it for a full minute in each position. For me, the DreamCloud held up well while sitting and lying on it, with only minimal sinkage. On the flip side, the Premier, which is softer, naturally sank more around the edges. Therefore, those with mobility issues or couples who like to spread out may want to opt for the firmer Original over the softer Premier.
Couples
- DreamCloud Mattress Couples Score: 4.5/5
- DreamCloud Premier Couples Score: 3/5
Our couples score is determined by factors that would make or break the bed-sharing experience, like overall support, cooling, edge support, motion isolation, and bounce. Since the Original outperformed the Premier in all four categories, we rated it higher. However, we docked a half-point since the Original didn’t have outstanding cooling.
That said, it’s worth pointing out that the DreamCloud Premier has a more versatile medium-firm feel than the Original, so for couples who don’t want such a firm bed, the Premier might be better in this case.

DreamCloud vs. DreamCloud Premier FAQs
What is the DreamCloud Premier?
The DreamCloud Premier is a hybrid mattress from DreamCloud. It is considered the direct upgrade to the DreamCloud Original Hybrid mattress.
Is the DreamCloud Premier good for heavy people?
The DreamCloud Premier will offer decent support for heavier side, back, and stomach sleepers, but we unanimously agreed the firmer feel of the DreamCloud Original will be more supportive for this group. This is because the Original will likely lift the lower back and hips more than the Premier.
Is the DreamCloud mattress too firm?
The DreamCloud mattress will likely be too firm for most side sleepers, who will probably enjoy the softer feel of the DreamCloud Premier against their shoulders and hips.
Are Nectar and DreamCloud made by the same company?
Nectar and DreamCloud are sister companies manufactured by the same parent company, Resident Home, which was recently acquired by Ashley Home.
Our Final Thoughts on the DreamCloud vs. DreamCloud Premier
Although the DreamCloud Original Hybrid and DreamCloud Premier Hybrid have similar builds, they perform quite differently from one another in terms of cooling, edge support, and motion isolation, among other factors. The Premier has a comparatively softer feel better for solo side sleepers but may not be worth the upgrade for couples who bed-share or who are stomach sleepers. The good news is that the entire DreamCloud brand offers a 365-night sleep trial, so hesitant shoppers on the fence can try a bed for a full year to determine if it’s the perfect fit.
Sleep Advisor’s Testing Methodology
I tested the DreamCloud Original while my colleague Julia tested the DreamCloud Premier. We tested each mattress for firmness, support, and comfort, in addition to conducting a number of scientific tests to determine how well each bed performs beneath the cover (like measuring cooling with a thermal gun). Wondering how it all works? Here’s a full breakdown of our product review process.
