- Shoppers wanting a traditional memory foam feel with cooling technology – The Sleep Advisor team loves that this mattress offers multiple cooling technologies, including phase change fabric, gels, aerated materials, and pocketed coils. These additions help offset the potentially heat-trapping deep hug of this foam bed.
- Those who love that ‘deep hug’ feel – We found that we sank very deeply into this mattress, experiencing a comforting contouring of the body, which offered enhanced pressure relief.
- Couples with differing needs – We got on board with how the Split Cali King option allows you to choose a different comfort level on each side to ensure co-sleepers’ preferences are catered to.

- Sleepers requiring personalized contouring -Our team members appreciated how the hybrid foam comfort layer and supportive coils are designed to compress and push back to suit your body’s individual needs.
- People who love a latex feel with good bounce – We found the proprietary materials in this bed feel springy like latex, and combined with the coil system this should provide ample bounce to aid in repositioning. This also makes it a good mattress for sex.
- Pillow top fans – This bed features a premium quilted pillow top, which gives it a plush, luxurious feel. The breathable TENCEL™ cover comes as standard, but those of us who sleep hot were excited about the option to upgrade to a GlacioTex™ cooling cover.
Comparing Nest Bedding Sparrow vs Helix Dusk Luxe: Top Similarities
- Not suitable for most heavyweight sleepers – While we think both mattresses may offer enough support for most heavyweight back sleepers, we’d advise heavier side and stomach sleepers to shop for a firmer mattress.
- Motion isolation – We found both beds to be constructed with foam layers that managed to absorb most of the movement that comes from the coil units. This should prevent light sleepers from being disturbed by restless partners on the other side of the bed.
- Edge support – Our team appreciated that both beds feature reinforced coils around the perimeter of the bed, which allow you to spread out and use the whole surface area of the mattress without the sides collapsing.
Comparing Nest Bedding Sparrow vs Helix Dusk Luxe: Key Differences
- Sinkage – We found the Nest Bedding Sparrow offered a deep hug feel. Whereas the Helix Dusk Luxe provided more of a medium cradle, with slightly higher bounce. However, despite the deeper sinkage of the Sparrow, we didn’t feel stuck in the bed.
- Price – Can’t decide between the two? The slight price difference may sway those on a tighter budget. The Sparrow is around 147 to 400 dollars cheaper than the Dusk Luxe, depending on which size you choose.
- Trial and warranty – Indecisive types may prefer the Sparrow for its 365-night trial period and lifetime warranty. In contrast, the Dusk Luxe has a shorter trial of 100 nights and a 15-year limited warranty.
Comparing Firmness, Support & Feel
Firmness
We rank beds using a mattress firmness scale that ranges from 1 to 10, with 1 being the softest. The Sparrow comes in a choice of Plush, Medium, or Firm, and we reviewed the Medium feel. We ranked this mattress as a 5.5 out of 10, and feel that it is a true medium. The Helix Dusk Luxe earned a 6.5/10, making it slightly firmer than the Sparrow, though still medium-firm.
Support
The Sparrow’s comfort layers should provide more of a memory foam mattress feel on the surface. Below that the proprietary foam combines with the supportive coils for enhanced pressure relief. Helix uses a proprietary latex alternative that our testers found felt a little springier, while providing ample support.
When it comes to edge support, our team found both brands performed above average thanks to their reinforced perimeter coils that allow you to spread out without the sides collapsing.
Feel
The Sparrow’s upper memory foam layers are fairly slow to respond, but the deeper materials respond and reshape very quickly. The cover is plush and feels temperature-neutral, while the handles on the mattress allow it to be moved with ease.
The Dusk Luxe’s materials have a quick response and also reshape easily, with a cushioning hug that shouldn’t leave you feeling swallowed by the bed. Our testers found the GlacioTex™ Cooling Cover upgrade soft and cool to the touch.
Comparing Sinkage and Bounce
Our team found the Nest Bedding Sparrow offered a deep hug that contours to the body, while we experienced a medium cradle with the Helix Dusk Luxe, which conformed to the sleeper.
We found both options had moderate bounce due to their coil systems. However, our team thinks the Helix edges a little ahead in this regard due to its latex-like materials which we found felt a little springier when compared to Nest Bedding’s memory foam-like layers. Either way, you should never feel stuck when trying to move around on these beds, which is great news for combination sleepers.
Comparing Motion Transfer
Motion transfer may not always be a top priority for mattress shoppers, but those who share their bed with a restless partner, child, or pet probably don’t want their slumber disturbed by a co-sleeper’s movement, and a bed with good motion isolation can provide that. If you’re a light sleeper and easily awoken by someone tossing and turning, you’ll need a bed with minimal motion transfer. This means the mattress isolates movement, rather than allowing it to travel across the bed.
Our team scored both the Sparrow and Dusk Luxe highly for motion isolation, as both feature foams that successfully absorb the majority of movement emanating from their coil units.
Comparing Cooling
Despite both beds featuring multiple foam layers, which are known for trapping heat, they’re also designed with cooling technology to offset this.
We found that the Sparrow’s combination of individually-wrapped coils, gel-infused foam, and THERMIC® phase change fabric in the cover helped to dissipate any heat that could get trapped on the surface, allowing for a comfortable, temperature-neutral sleep.
The Dusk Luxe’s breathable cover, aerated latex-alternative foam, and coil unit allowed for lots of airflow that can help keep the bed cool. We also tested the GlacioTex™ Cooling Cover upgrade, which is a fantastic choice for hot sleepers as it draws heat from the body.

Nest Bedding Sparrow Construction
This is a foam and coil hybrid product that is compressed and boxed for shipping. The 1-inch cover of this 12-inch mattress features gel-infused memory foam combined with super soft THERMIC® phase change fabric quilted into it to promote cooling.
- The top layer contains a 3-inch Energex™ temperature-responsive foam. This cutting-edge material is designed to provide immediate responsiveness as you change positions, offering a memory foam-like feel without leaving indents.
- The center features 1-inch of high-density SmartFlow support foam, which acts as a transitional layer to ease you into the coil unit below.
- The innerspring layer is constructed with 6-inch individually-pocketed 16-gauge coils. These provide stability to the softer materials and the individual wrapping helps to minimize motion transfer. Reinforced coils around the perimeter provide sturdy edge support.
- At the base there is a 1-inch layer of dense foam to support the innersprings.
Helix Dusk Luxe Construction
This 13.5-inch mattress is shipped compressed inside a box. The bed boasts a naturally breathable and cooling TENCEL™ cover quilted to a plush pillow top. Hot sleepers may appreciate the option of a GlacioTex™ cooling cover upgrade, available for an additional fee.

- The second layer features Helix Dynamic Foam, a latex alternative blended with polyurethane foam that promotes pressure relief and ease of movement.
- The third layer features Memory Plus Foam, offering further pressure relief with a classic memory foam feel. It also acts as a transitional layer into the coils below.
- The support system comprises 8-inch individually-wrapped coils, which minimize motion transfer and adapt to the sleeper’s weight. There’s reinforced support under the lumbar area and around the bed’s perimeter.
- The final layer is made up of DuraDense Foam, which provides overall support to the entire mattress.

Final Thoughts
Still not sure which of these two products is right for you?
Both brands offer a medium feel and easy repositioning due to quick-responding materials with good bounce. This should make either option a good fit for combination sleepers and most position preferences.
The differences largely lie in the levels of sinkage, cooling technologies, and customization options, as well as the warranty and trial period. The Nest Bedding Sparrow offers a much longer trial and warranty compared to the Helix Dusk Luxe, which may be a dealbreaker for some shoppers.
