Who I’d Recommend the DreamCloud For
- Hot sleepers – The DreamCloud mattress has excellent cooling properties thanks to gel-infused memory foam that prevents the heat from building up in the upper layers. In addition, the coils foster cooling by allowing the air to flow through the entire construction.
- Couples – This hybrid mattress has excellent edge support and motion isolation, which makes it a good option for partners with different sleeping habits.
- People looking for affordable luxury – This is a luxury mattress with high-quality materials and a cashmere cover that makes you feel like you’re sleeping on a cloud.

Who I’d Recommend the Saatva For
- People with back pain – The Saatva Classic mattress is an innerspring bed with two coil units and a Lumbar Zone® Active Spinal Wire for additional support in the lower back area.
- People with allergies – Saatva has a breathable organic cotton cover that’s hypoallergenic and treated with the brand’s Guardin® botanical antimicrobial treatment that keeps bacteria and molds away.
- Those needing options – This Saatva mattress is available in seven sizes, two heights, and three firmness options, giving you plenty of ways to customize the bed.
Comparing Saatva vs. DreamCloud: Top Similarities
- The type of mattress – Both the Saatva and DreamCloud are hybrid mattresses, which means they have a combination of foam and coils, so you can’t go wrong with either if this is a top priority.
- The bounce – These hybrids have sufficient bounce to make it easy to get in and out of bed. This also makes it easy for combination sleepers to reposition.
- Trial and warranty – Saatva and DreamCloud offer lifetime warranties and a 365-night trial, which should be enough time to decide whether you like your bed of choice.
Comparing Saatva vs. DreamCloud: Key Differences
- The coil unit – Although both beds are hybrids, the Saatva Classic mattress has two innerspring units for enhanced support. This is unique for Saatva and makes it stand out among many hybrid mattresses.
- The price – The Saatva is more expensive than the DreamCloud, which is important to note if you’re shopping on a budget.
- Motion isolation – The soft Saatva pillow top does next to nothing to absorb a partner’s or pet’s movement. The DreamCloud, however, has thicker foam layers and individually wrapped coils that do a good job at preventing motion from moving across the bed.
Comparing Firmness, Support & Feel
Firmness
Using a scale of 1-10, we’ve determined the firmness of both mattresses, assuming 1 is soft as a cloud and 10 is firm as cement. The DreamCloud is rated 6.5, and Saatva’s luxury firm option is rated 7 on our firmness scale.
The luxury firm Saatva and the DreamCloud are likely going to appeal to a lot of sleepers who are drawn to middle of the road firmness. Back, stomach, and many side and combination sleepers will appreciate the Saatva that we reviewed. However, those who prefer a harder or softer bed also have options with this brand. As for the DreamCloud, average weight back and stomach sleepers will likely appreciate it the most.

Comparing Construction (Materials & Quality)
Saatva Construction
The cover is a 3-inch Euro-style pillow top that has been treated with GuardinⓇ to prohibit bacteria and promote a cleaner sleep experience. This mattress comes in 14.5 and 11.5-inch heights, but we will focus on the 14.5-inch version because it is closest in height to the 14-inch DreamCloud.
- The first layer contains a lumbar support enhancement. This system combines memory foam materials and wires to promote lumbar support and pressure relief.
- The second layer is a system of individually wrapped coils. The coils should push back or compress as needed for individualized responsiveness. These coils also help promote breathability by providing better airflow.
- The bottom layer consists of steel coil base support. This uses recycled steel to create durable support for the upper layers.
- The perimeter uses a dual perimeter edge support made of high-density foam to provide consistency throughout the entire sleep surface and reduce sagging.
DreamCloud Construction
The DreamCloud features a 12-inch profile with a breathable cashmere-blend cover that should feel soft and breathable. Additionally, the first foam layer in the DreamCloud is stitched into the cover.
- Under the cover there is 2 inches of gel memory foam that aids in cooling.
- The second layer is a 1 inch thick dynamic transition layer that provides adaptive support that eases the sleeper into the coil unit below and provides additional overall support.
- The primary support layer is made from 8 inch innerspring coils that are individually wrapped to improve motion isolation. Along with supporting the sleeper’s body weight, the coils promote airflow for extra cooling.
- The stability layer is 1 inch of standard foam, supporting the above layers.
- The shift-resistant lower cover that helps prevent the bed from sliding on the foundation.
Comparing Sinkage, Bounce, Motion Isolation, & Cooling
Comparing Sinkage
Sinkage reflects how much you should expect to melt into the layers, whereas bounce (or responsiveness) reflects how quickly the bed reponds to your movements.
The DreamCloud might lend itself to slightly more sinkage than Saatva, which offers a gentler cradle than the former’s deeper hug. If you prefer to rest more “in” your mattress, steer towards the DreamCloud, but if you prefer sleeping “on the top”, you may want to go for the dual coil system.
Comparing Bounce
Although the plush foam layers at the top of the bed dampened the bounce some, Saatva’s coils helped it bounce back from applied weight fairly quickly. This should keep people from feeling stuck when changing positions.
The DreamCloud also had a moderate bounce and quickly responding materials. The foams reform easily as sleepers move around, aiding in repositioning and making sex less awkward for couples .
Comparing Motion Isolation
Both the DreamCloud and Saatva mattresses use individually pocketed coils and layers of dampening materials to help isolate movement, and they both land between all-foam and innersprings in this category. Shoppers should notice much less motion transfer than might be present in an innerspring bed but more than can be found in a typical all-foam construction.
While both brands feature coil systems, Saatva contains less foam than DreamCloud. Saatva doesn’t fare well in motion isolation and those who sleep with a restless partner will likely want to avoid it. The DreamCloud may absorb more energy because of its foam layers and this feature is further enhanced with individually wrapped coils. So, it could be a good fit for shoppers who consider motion control a major concern.
Comparing Cooling
Hybrids are naturally better at cooling than all-foam mattresses thanks to the coils that foster more airflow. Both the Saatva and DreamCloud are hybrids, so you should already notice some breathability and cooling due to their design. They also have additional cooling capabilities to further enhance comfort for hot sleepers.
The DreamCloud has gel infusions to prevent its memory foam from overheating. On the other hand, Saatva has a breathable cover that helps prevent heat from building up on the surface. Plus, it has two coil units so even more air can circulate through.
Comparing Company Policies & Price
- Warranty – Both Saatva and DreamCloud beds come with a lifetime warranty.
- Shipping – DreamCloud ships their bed for free to the contiguous United States, while there’s an additional fee for shipping to Alaska and Hawaii. Saatva ships for free within the contiguous United States, and there’s also free white glove delivery.
- Trial Period – Both companies offer a 365-night trial for you to test the mattresses.
- Returns – DreamCloud will take their mattress back for free, while Saatva requires you to pay a $99 processing fee. Both companies will refund you.
