Who We Recommend the TEMPUR-Cloud® For:
- Back and side sleepers – We noticed excellent pressure relief when trying this mattress on our back and side, which means it should be great for people with hip, shoulder, and lower back pain.
- Memory foam fans – This bed offers a deep hug and body contouring, so it should be great for people who generally prefer memory foam in their mattresses.
- Luxury shoppers – Although the TEMPUR-Cloud® is the most affordable model from this brand, it still comes with premium materials, durability, and high-quality craftsmanship expected from Tempur-Pedic.
Who We Don’t Recommend the TEMPUR-Cloud® For:
- Stomach sleepers – We think lightweight stomach sleepers might get away with sleeping on this medium-firm bed, but anyone over 130 pounds might prefer a firmer bed for stomach sleeping.
- Innerspring mattress fans – The foam version of the TEMPUR-Cloud® has excellent pressure relief and motion isolation but virtually no bounce. If you’re after a more responsive bed, we suggest you look into the hybrid version of TEMPUR-Cloud® or an entirely different innerspring mattress.
- Hot sleepers – We wouldn’t recommend this bed to hot sleepers because the breathable cover included is just not enough to do any cooling whatsoever. Firmness & Feel
Firmness Scale: 6.5/10
We rate mattress firmness on a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is the softest and 10 is the firmest. When testing this Tempur-Pedic mattress, Emma said its firmness falls right at 6.5 out of 10 on our firmness scale.
This is a true medium-firm feel, although it might feel a bit softer or firmer, depending on your exact body weight and preferred sleeping position.
How Does The TEMPUR-Cloud® Feel?
The cover is soft to the touch. Almost immediately, Emma noticed herself slowly sinking into the body-hugging Tempur® foam. However, this bed goes back to its original shape very slowly as well.
With that in mind, we think this mattress might take weeks, if not months, to break in because of its high-density foam. For this reason, it might feel a bit too firm at first, but it should reach its true feel after the break-in period.

We found this bed to be excellent for people with pressure buildup, as it offers enhanced cushioning and conforms to your curves. This bed is designed for pressure relief, but this doesn’t come at the price of support. There’s still a nice balance between the softer comfort layers and the high-density base layer.

Is the TEMPUR-Cloud® Good for Pain Relief?
We think this mattress could be good for pain relief in certain cases, but this will also depend on your body weight and sleep position since this can impact how supportive the bed is for you.
| Back Pain | We think people with back pain could benefit from the TEMPUR-Cloud® mattress as it has a medium-firm feel that combines substantial levels of support and pressure relief. Back sleepers with pain in the lumbar area should appreciate how the mattress contours your body to support the hips from sinking too deeply. This mattress has a unique support system that includes a firmer layer of TEMPUR-Material™. It’s designed to slowly adapt to your body, conforming your curves and relieving pressure all while keeping you lifted.
How this bed feels support-vise depends mostly on your body weight and preferred sleeping position. As we said, we found it’s not the best option for stomach sleepers, except maybe for those under 130 pounds. Similarly, we don’t think it’s the best option for most heavyweight sleepers, as most would probably benefit more from a firmer bed or a hybrid. Because of this, we took off a point.
With that said, lightweight and average-weight sleepers should experience excellent support, specifically if they sleep on their side or back.
Motion Isolation

Motion isolation is helpful for couples. If you’re a light sleeper who wakes up easily, you’ll probably love the TEMPUR-Cloud® as it should absorb your partner’s movements. Memory foam beds typically excel in this department, and this Tempur-Pedic mattress is no exception.
Temperature Regulation / Cooling

Memory foam is not the best material to have in your mattress if you’re a hot sleeper. It tends to trap heat, which can be worse for hot sleepers living in a warm climate. Although the TEMPUR-Cloud® mattress has a breathable cover, this is not enough to provide any real cooling. We found this mattress held a considerable amount of heat, which is why we wouldn’t recommend it for those who sleep hot. Instead, we’d recommend the Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze® or the LuxeBreeze®.
Bounce

The TEMPUR-Cloud® mattress is made entirely out of foam, which is not good news for people who want a bouncy bed. We found this bed offered virtually no bounce, and as such, it might not be the best for people with limited mobility or couples who like a bit of springback.
However, if you like the TEMPUR-Cloud® but would like more responsiveness, we suggest you check the hybrid version of this mattress. The addition of coils should give it more bounce.
Edge Support

This bed offers impressive edge support given that it’s a memory foam model. The bed’s overall firmness and the density of the foam help keep the edges from collapsing.
We tested this by sitting and lying near the edge of the bed. You might notice a bit of compression when sitting in this area, but we think this is expected and rather normal for all-foam beds.

Our accessibility score considers whether the bed has any unique characteristics to it in terms of performance, design, and policies. Tempur-Pedic mattresses are known for their comfort, and based on our scores for this bed in pressure relief and support, we’d say this mattress meets that Tempur-Pedic reputation. That said, comfort is unique to different sleepers, so some people may want more cooling and bounce from their bed, which is why we took off a point in our accessibility score.

Communicating with Tempur-Pedic is simple enough. You can reach them via email, phone, or an online chat on their official website. If you opt for the chat, you’ll be joined by a virtual assistant, who, although not as good as talking to a real person, can be very helpful in answering some questions.
The company offers good policies, although some argue it could have a longer trial given the price of these beds; most brands offer at least 100 nights, but Tempur-Pedic gives you 90 nights. Plus, there’s a $175 return shipping fee, which is why we gave it a 4 instead of 5 in this category.
Performance for Couples

Couples should like how this mattress isolates motion to prevent any movement from carrying from one side to the other. This is great for partners with different sleeping habits, especially when one is a restless sleeper and the other is easily awakened. This mattress also has an adaptive medium-firm feel, which we typically like to see in beds for couples.
However, some sexually active couples might find its lack of bounce a drawback. Plus, we would have liked to see a higher score for cooling and a clear weight limit. This is why it only earned a 3.5 here.

This is a bed-in-a-box mattress, but it doesn’t really come in a box. More precisely, it comes in a reusable bag you can easily save for a camping trip or simple storage.
Construction: What’s Inside the TEMPUR-Cloud®?
The TEMPUR-Cloud® all-foam model is 10 inches tall, featuring a 360® stretch cover that’s breathable and moisture-wicking.
- The comfort layer features the slow-moving Tempur® material, the original foam invented by NASA. This is proprietary to Tempur-Pedic mattresses, so you won’t find this foam in any other bed. We found the comfort layer to be cushioning and soft.
- The support layer features firmer Tempur® foam, which is also the transition layer. It offers excellent contouring and pressure relief, and it’s a bit slower-moving than the comfort layer.
- The base layer is made from firm foam that provides durability and support for the rest of the mattress.
Unboxing & Off-Gassing
The TEMPUR-Cloud® arrives in a bag. The bag is more compact, but keep in mind that it’s quite heavy. The TEMPUR-Cloud® weighs anywhere from 39.3 to 84.9 pounds, depending on the mattress size.
To set up your mattress, place it on your bed frame of choice before removing all packaging. This way, the bed unrolls onto the bed frame and expands within minutes. The company suggests opening the package and unrolling the mattress within 30 days.
We noticed a bit of off-gassing, which is pretty common for memory foam mattresses. The odor is harmless and should dissipate within 48 hours, but we suggest keeping the room well-ventilated.

Our Verdict of the TEMPUR-Cloud® Mattress
The TEMPUR-Cloud® packs a lot into its 10-inch profile. This mattress features high-density Tempur® foam that gives a cozy hug. However, there’s still plenty of support to keep your body aligned in various sleeping positions.
We think this bed is primarily best for lightweight and average-weight sleepers, specifically those sleeping on their side and back. We wouldn’t recommend it for most stomach sleepers and anyone over 230 pounds.
The TEMPUR-Cloud® earned an overall score of 3.8 out of 5, which is primarily due to its lack of bounce and advanced cooling. If these two factors aren’t important to you, we suggest you give this bed a try.
