Who We Recommend The Recore For:
- Active people – Whether you are a professional athlete or simply someone who enjoys an active lifestyle, you are likely to exert a lot of energy and come home exhausted. The Recore was designed to help restore your body by providing more quality deep sleep.
- Hot sleepers – This bed has several features that help reduce body temperature to keep sleepers cool, including graphite-infused latex, cooling gels, and a breathable antimicrobial fabric.
- Those who need pressure relief – The Recore is focused on relieving strain and helping the body recover. The foams here aim to reduce pressure buildup by gently contouring the curves of your body.
Who We Don’t Recommend The Recore For:
- Who We Don’t Recommend The Recore For: – Having a traditional coil mattress can be nice, especially if that is what you are used to sleeping on. The Recore, like an innerspring bed, is fairly responsive and sports a bit of bounce, but it is not going to feel like a traditional innerspring bed since it lacks coils.
- Those who live outside of Canada – This bed is sold exclusively in Canada and ships free within most of the country. If you’re looking for a mail-order mattress sold within the United States, though, this won’t be the bed for you.
First Impressions: Firmness & Feel
Firmness Scale: 6/10
Please remember that firmness is a subjective characteristic and your shape will dictate how you experience a bed. A heavier person whose weight can more easily push through softer comfort and support layers may experience a bed as softer than a lightweight person. The way you are shaped could also play a role here. Consider your weight, shape, and size when evaluating firmness scores.
According to our Sleep Advisor mattress firmness scale, in which 1 is the softest and 10 is the firmest, the Recore rates at a 6 out of 10. This falls in the medium range, which means that it has been built to target a larger variety of sleeping positions and body types.
This bed has a balanced foam feel, which means you should gently sink into the mattress but never feel “stuck” in it. Since it is a medium-firm bed, you should also be able to sleep comfortably in most positions, depending on your body type.
How Does It Feel?
The Recore’s comfort latex foam gently cradles sleepers’ curves, allowing them to sink through the middle layer and into the support foam at the base. This construction was designed to alleviate pressure by dispersing the sleeper’s weight over the surface. The foams also work together to keep the body aligned and supported.
As you hop into bed, you’ll likely notice how quickly the latex responds. This keeps the surface of the bed nice and bouncy, a convenient feature to help combination sleepers reposition easier.
What We Like About the Recore
- The latex foam – Latex is a great material for mattresses because it is a durable, high-quality, and buoyant type of foam. Plus, it’s temperature-neutral, which is helpful for hot sleepers.
- Great motion isolation – This is positive news for partners who share a bed because having a bed with great motion isolation means that when your partner moves, you shouldn’t feel it on your side of the bed.
- It can work for stomach sleepers – It can be hard to find a bed that feels supportive enough to keep the hip elevated while on your stomach, and the Recore should not disappoint.
Our Recore Complaints
- It’s not designed for bigger bodies – The Recore is only designed to support up to 250 pounds per side of the mattress so it’s not the best mattress for heavy sleepers.
- Not the best edge support – There is some sinkage when you sit on the edge of this foam mattress, which means you may not be able to comfortably use the entire mattress.
- It doesn’t have a lot of bounce – Latex is a bouncy enough foam that you won’t feel “stuck” in the mattress, but since it doesn’t have coils, there may not be enough bounce for some sexually-active couples or heavier combination sleepers.
Testing the Recore Mattress: How it Performed
When we tested the Recore, we measured specific features to determine who this mattress is best suited for, such as cooling, motion isolation, bounce, and edge support. Additionally, we tested how supportive and pressure-relieving the bed is in different sleeping postures.
Sleeping Positions for Different Body Types
The Recore mattress can support up to 500 pounds for the entire bed or 250 pounds per side. However, that doesn’t mean this bed with necessarily be supportive enough for heavyweight sleepers to ensure optimal spine alignment.
Side Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – Sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds likely won’t press down into the top comfort layers of the Recore enough and will feel pressure on their shoulder and hip.
- Average Weight Sleepers – The soft comfort layers should help alleviate pain in pressure points like the shoulders and hips for average-weight side sleepers who will press down into these layers sufficiently.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – The Recore should work well for heavier side sleepers, but keep in mind the weight capacity is 250 pounds per side of the bed. Therefore, heavier couples may prefer another option.
Back Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – Lightweight back sleepers should feel well-supported on this mattress.
- Average Weight Sleepers – Average-weight back sleepers might be the best fit for this bed, as they’ll push down into the soft comfort layers for pressure relief while the supportive coils will keep the spine properly aligned.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – Although the Recore has a firm and responsive feel, back sleepers over 230 pounds might sink too far in to keep the spine properly aligned.
Stomach Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – This mattress is firm enough that sleepers under 130 pounds should feel well supported beneath the hips, the most common place to dip down when stomach sleeping.
- Average Weight Sleepers – Stomach sleepers under 180 pounds should feel plenty supported by the Recore, but those who weigh more will want a firmer mattress.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – The Recore is going to be too soft for sleepers who weigh more than 230 pounds.
Pressure Relief & Pain
The Recore is specifically designed with active people in mind, so it makes sense that it would perform well when it comes to pressure and pain relief. The top layer is made with a responsive latex foam. Latex tends to be a bit more bouncy and quick to respond to your body weight than memory foam. It will provide pressure relief for your joints, but you’ll never sink so far into this mattress that you’ll feel stuck.
Back Pain – This mattress will work best for people with back pain who sleep on their backs since it is made to help keep the spine properly aligned in this position. The latex will fill in the space between the hips and shoulders, ensuring a neutral spine and ultimately, less back pain.
Hip Pain – The Recore should help average and heavier side sleepers with hip pain, as it can provide a gentle cradle for this pressure point. However lightweight side sleepers with hip pain could find the Recore too firm.
Shoulder Pain – Shoulder pain is often made worse by a mattress that’s too firm. Luckily, the Recore should help alleviate shoulder pain for most sleepers, though those under 130 pounds should avoid side-sleeping on this mattress because it might make shoulder pain worse.
Support
A bed that is supportive will work to keep the spine in a neutral and healthy alignment, whether you are on your back, side, or stomach. The Recore offers exceptional support for most people, with its combination of dense support foam, contouring gel foam, and a top layer of latex, which is contouring but still bouncy.
The Recore should keep your spine in optimal alignment, especially when sleeping on your back. It may be too soft, though, for some heavier sleepers, causing their hips to dip and their spine to curve.
Motion Transfer
Motion transfer describes how much motion you’ll feel on one part of the bed when somebody else is moving on another. This will be an important factor for anyone who shares a bed, be it with a partner, a child, or a pet.
Thankfully, because of its high-density support base and top layers of comfort foam, the Recore has excellent motion isolation, so you shouldn’t feel much or anything at all when somebody moves during the night. This is especially good news for sensitive sleepers out there or those who have different sleep schedules than their partners.
Temperature Regulation / Cooling
Latex is a naturally cool material, so the Recore mattress feels cooler than most foam mattresses for that reason alone. Additionally, the latex is infused with graphite, which helps draw thermal energy away from the body.
In the second comfort layer, the foam is infused with cooling gels and is filled with millions of cooling air cushions. The cover is also made from a breathable fabric.
Performance for Couples
Most couples will want a bed that has great motion isolation, so they won’t feel their partner moving at night, and some sexually active couples will prefer a bed with a bit of bounce.
It’s rare to find a bed with both great motion isolation and bounce, but the Recore does just that. Furthermore, the medium firmness is versatile enough for many people, making it an excellent bed for couples.

Preference-based Features
Made in Canada
The Recore mattress is designed and assembled in Canada, made from many local materials by veteran mattress makers.
Bed-in-a-box
This mattress will ship directly to you in a box. Shipping is free within most parts of Canada.
Adjustable Base Compatible
The Recore is adjustable base compatible. The company points out, though, that adjustable bases made from wired metal won’t work for this bed.
Construction: What’s Inside the Recore?
The Recore mattress will arrive on your doorstep compressed in a box. The compatible setup works on either an adjustable or slatted base, as well as a box foundation.
The cover of the bed is made with a proprietary material called SilverCharged™ thread. This is an antimicrobial fiber that leaves sleepers resting on a cleaner surface. It is fully breathable and can zip off for easy washing.
When you unzip the cover, you’ll find 10.5 inches of foam beneath, which is made up of three layers.
- The first layer is 1.5 inches of comfortable and responsive graphite latex foam. This design was made to keep the sleeper’s core temperatures in check by drawing thermal energy away from the body. By reducing body temperatures, sleepers should be able to experience more restorative deep sleep.
- The second layer is 2 inches of breathable gel foam that functions as a transition layer between the top and base. This material has millions of air cushions that were designed to draw heat away from the sleeper’s body and circulate air throughout the middle of the bed. Vortex™ gel technology creates new pockets of air each time you rest on this bed.
- The final layer is a high-density foam support base that not only sustains the sleeper’s weight but also creates quality motion isolation throughout the bed.
Unboxing & Off-Gassing
The Recore will take about 10-15 minutes for you and a friend to fully unbox, unwrap, and put it on a bed frame. We recommend doing this with somebody since a Queen weighs over 90 pounds.
Like many bed-in-a-box foam mattresses, the Recore has a faint chemical smell when you unbox it. This sort of off-gassing is normal and should fully dissipate within 48 hours. To help this process along, unbox it in a well-ventilated room, and don’t put bedding on the mattress until it has completely decompressed and off-gassed.
Certifications
- CertiPUR-US® certified – The foams in this bed are CertiPUR-US® certified. CertiPUR-US® is a third-party program that ensures the foams meet rigorous health and safety standards. This means they don’t contain harmful substances like ozone depleters, PBDEs, heavy metals, formaldehyde, and phthalates. They should also have low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions.

Overall Summary
The Recore mattress is a performance bed aimed at helping sleepers recover at night so they can take on the day with full energy.
Side Sleepers
3/5
The Recore mattress is a performance bed aimed at helping sleepers recover at night so they can take on the day with full energy.
Back Sleepers
4/5
The Recore is designed to keep back sleepers in a comfortable position, leaving the spine in neutral alignment through the night. It is a relatively firm mattress and so should work well for most people in this position, feeling firm yet responsive. However, heavyweight sleepers will likely prefer something more supportive for their frame.
Stomach Sleepers
3/5
Stomach sleepers need a firm, supportive mattress to keep the hips from sinking into the bed and putting the spine out of alignment. How firm a mattress feels depends on the sleeper’s weight, and in this case, this bed will feel firm enough for lightweight and some average-weight stomach sleepers.
Combination Sleepers
4/5
Stomach sleepers need a firm, supportive mattress to keep the hips from sinking into the bed and putting the spine out of alignment. How firm a mattress feels depends on the sleeper’s weight, and in this case, this bed will feel firm enough for lightweight and some average-weight stomach sleepers.
Couples
4/5
Most couples will appreciate the excellent motion isolation on this bed, along with the small amount of bounce from the latex foam. This combination makes it so you won’t feel your partner moving at night, but you also won’t feel stuck in the bed when repositioning. However, the edge support isn’t the best but getting a larger size could help.
Heavy Sleepers
2/5
Some heavy sleepers may comfortably sleep on their side, but the Recore is designed to only support up to 250 pounds per side of the bed. This means those who weigh significantly more would do better with a more supportive bed. Overall, we don’t think this one would be worth it for heavyweight sleepers.
Lightweight Sleepers
4/5
Some heavy sleepers may comfortably sleep on their side, but the Recore is designed to only support up to 250 pounds per side of the bed. This means those who weigh significantly more would do better with a more supportive bed. Overall, we don’t think this one would be worth it for heavyweight sleepers.
Average Weight Sleepers
5/5
Recore is an excellent mattress for average-weight sleepers, whether they sleep on their back or side. In fact, it is even firm enough that it should comfortably support average-weight stomach sleepers who weigh less than 180 pounds. The Recore should feel supportive but still comfortable and contouring for average-weight sleepers.
Overall Value
4/5
With high-quality and durable materials that should last up to 10 years and a generous 15-year warranty, we think the Recore mattress is an excellent value for the cost, overall. Plus if you don’t love it within the 120-night trial, you can send it back for a full refund.
Our Verdict
The Recore mattress should be a great choice for those seeking to enhance their daily life by optimizing the way they sleep. The brand uses materials designed to help the body restore, recover, and keep cool at night, so you can hit the ground running come sunrise.
Performance mattresses can cost thousands of dollars, but this option is available at a price that should keep both you and your bank account smiling. We think this is a good option for folks wanting to get more out of their day, and hopefully, you will too.
